Alexander Firempong Obituary
Dr. Alexander Owusu Firempong (Owusu Ananeh-Firempong II) passed away in San Francisco on February 14, 2018. Beloved son of Sheila Ananeh-Firempong, he was born in Los Angeles on August 22, 1979. He earned a B.S. in Biology and an M.S. in Molecular and Cell Biology from Brandeis University. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine from UCLA. He worked as an intern for the Office of the Surgeon General of the United States and served as a medical volunteer in Kumasi, Ghana. Dr. Firempong completed his surgical residency at Duke University Medical Center. Presently he was a Hand and Microsurgery Fellow at the Buncke Clinic in San Francisco. An avid adventurer, he enjoyed wrestling, rock climbing, and skydiving. A man for all seasons, his accomplishments would fill many lifetimes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Women's Club of So. Pasadena Scholarship Fund. A service will be at Calvary Presbyterian Church in So. Pasadena on February 24, 2018.

Alex, I will never forget meeting you back in 2006 and becoming fast friends. Your brilliance and intensity was to be admired and I am fully remiss that we lost touch these last seven years. Alas, our lives moved in separate directions.
The world lost a brilliant and passionate person. I am going to assume that God needed home early. Whether that is true or not, it makes the loss of you a bit less painful. When we meet again, as I know we will, I intend to continue our political debates and intellectual discourse.
In the meantime, I send prayers to a grieving family and a host of many others who loved you. God Bless you Alex and see you again, my friend.

Alex, you were a wonderful man with such an amazing presence. You dedicated your life to helping people, and anyone who was fortunate enough to know you was blessed by your your wit, your warmth, and your laughter. Your light was extinguished far too soon.
