Brian George Moody

The Moody family is sad to announce the passing of Brian Moody. His life started in Panama and he came to the USA aboard a banana boat. An Altadena-Pasadena original he was cared for at the Benziger Orphanage while his mother recovered at the La Vina Sanatorium. One of his favorite early stories is ditching kindergarten and being caught by police placing pennies on the train tracks. His love and knowledge of 1950's era cars was honed at the dealerships lining Pasadena's famous Colorado Blvd. Brian started Sundowners car club at the age of 16 complete with airbrushed sweatshirts by Big Daddy Ed Roth. He made many treasured friendships during this time. Brian traveled across the USA on Rooute 66 where he met and married Edith in a Las Vegas elopement lasting 44 years! They spent over 40 years in the Pepper Dr. neighborhood and was instrumental in the founding and leading of the 4th July parade, for decades hosting a neighborhood picnic at the family home. His career was spent in several Pasadena engineering firms where he made many friends before retiring from Parsons. Known to spread joy everywhere he went, Dad loved to dance, laugh and eat good food! He moved to the Silverlakes desert community and started another car club The Sunsetters, making many new friends along the way. Brian's sunset years were spent at Friendship Village in Tempe, AZ. He enjoyed Chess, Bingo and flirting with the ladies! Brian is survived by son William Moody, daughters Rhoquel Huylber, Virginia Bolenbaugh and Veronica Anderson plus grand and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Edith and daughter Elizabeth. Celebration of Life will be held at Friendship Village on Saturday October 21st from 2-4pm in the private dining room. In Brian's honor we invite you to toast from wherever you are at 6pm on Saturday October 21st. Forever an inventor of bad dad jokes Brian suggests a screwdriver, wait, make it a phillips screwdriver.
