Elizabeth McComack-Keen Obituary

June 8, 1927 - Oct. 29, 2018Elizabeth Ann McComack Keen, born on June 8, 1927 in her San Marino, California, home to the late Ina Muriel Elwess Keen and the late Charles Edward Keen, passed away at age 91 on October 29, 2018 in Mesa, Arizona. As a young girl she attended boarding school in La Canada/Flintridge, CA and Waterflow, New Mexico. She graduated from South Pasadena/San Marino High School in 1945 and California State University Los Angeles. She was in the City Government industry at the City of Alhambra as a Human Resourses Supervisor until retiring in 1985. She was the beloved partner of the late Luther "Ray" Taylor and the former wife of Paul J. McComack. She was preceded in death by her brother, Stuart Alan Keen; and son-in-laws, Lisiate Hingano Havili, George Robert Docherty and Robert Erling Rossland. Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Carrie Jeanne Bond and Michele Louise Bond-Docherty; granddaughter, Meleane Ina Havili-Gardner and her longtime partner Drew Sandoval; niece, Lise Keen; nephew, Darby Keen; 5 great nieces and nephews and cousin, Dale Short. Prior to moving to Arizona to be near family she lived in Spirit Lake, Idaho and northern New Mexico. Elizabeth taught and coached Synchronize swimming and had several teams over the course of her 30+ year career. She was most proud of the team she started in the 1980's. That team became the Unsyncables and currently continues to be the largest competitive team in the United States. Besides synchronize swimming, her other hobbies include Masters competitive swimming, historical research, genealogy, collecting Native American art and camping in the Southwest where she frequently visited a dear family friend, the late Father Clem Wottle. She was a committee member of the Spirit Lake Historical Society, a volunteer firefighter for the Lobo Canyon Fire Department in New Mexico and a volunteer for the American Red Cross for 50 years. Friends and family members may attend the graveside service, officiated by Rev. Bill Doulos, of Church of Our Saviour, on Friday, November 30 at 12:00p.m. at San Gabriel Cemetery, 601 W. Roses Rd., San Gabriel, California, 91775. Following the service a repast will be held at the home of Dale Short 3785 Denair St., Pasadena, CA 91107.Neptune Society - Phoenix, 1634 S.
