I am so sorry for the Montgomery family’s loss of their beloved and spirited matriarch - Joanne. Joanne meant so much to me as we shared our passions for children and youth. When she did not like something, she made it clearly known. She was extraordinarily wise and strategic in the work she did to move mountains to make this world a better place. I will miss her deeply. My condolences.

My Aunt Jo Jo was a delightful person and was a true force of good in my life. She was always so positive and encouraging! No dream was too big, Aunt Jo Jo believed in all possibilities. She made me want to sing, she made me want to dance, she made me believe there could be a “happily ever after,” just like in a Fred and Ginger movie. I am so thankful for her influence in my life. Goodbye Aunt Jo Jo, I love you so!

In the 1980's and early '90s I was privileged to serve on the Monrovia School Board and always admired Joanne as an outstanding teacher, beloved by her students and their families. She was a vibrant part of Monrovia life, and I know she will be missed by all those fortunate enough to have been her friend and colleague.

Joanne was an avid basketball fan all her life, first for her father’s Tucson High School Badgers and then the University of Arizona Wildcats. She and I went to 18 NCAA Final Fours starting in 1988. She and Don often joined my husband and me wherever our Wildcats were playing. Joanne loved Christmas. I pray for all Joanne’s wonderful family. May your memories comfort you in the days and weeks ahead. Love you. Mary Louise and Walt Roberson
