My 5th Grade Teacher at Monroe Elementary... She was an inspiration for my educational choices! I became what she was... An ever-learning inspired teacher! Robert Bassett, Student

Today we celebrate your life you have touched so many including my sister and brother as their fifth grade teacher although I was not as lucky to have you as my fifth grade teacher at Monroe school I did get to work beside your daughter in my professional years at Fremont elementary she is truly a reflection of both you and Mr. Montgomery condolences to your family rest in peace

I am so sorry for the Montgomery family’s loss of their beloved and spirited matriarch - Joanne. Joanne meant so much to me as we shared our passions for children and youth. When she did not like something, she made it clearly known. She was extraordinarily wise and strategic in the work she did to move mountains to make this world a better place. I will miss her deeply. My condolences.

Unforgettable teacher. Such an honor to have been her student❤

My Aunt Jo Jo was a delightful person and was a true force of good in my life. She was always so positive and encouraging! No dream was too big, Aunt Jo Jo believed in all possibilities. She made me want to sing, she made me want to dance, she made me believe there could be a “happily ever after,” just like in a Fred and Ginger movie. I am so thankful for her influence in my life. Goodbye Aunt Jo Jo, I love you so!

So many fond memories of Don & Joanne growing up. They were the nicest kindest people. Both loved their community and supported kids. What a huge loss now to everyone in Monrovia and especially your family. Love & blessings of peace to you all!
