John Finch Obituary

FINCH-John Geoffrey Finch, Ph.D. The Holy Spirit breathed new life into John Geoffrey Finch on the afternoon of January 1, 2004. He was embraced by his family as he passed away peacefully, following a gradual decline in recent years from Alzheimers Disease. Dr. Finch, 89, lived in the Tacoma/Gig Harbor area for the past 46 years. Born April 24, 1914 and raised in India, Dr. Finch came to the U.S. with his children, Jennifer a nd John and his first wife, Gladys in 1946. In 1958 he earned his Ph.D. from Drew University in New Jersey where he met his wife, Dagi. His career as a Christian psychologist spanned nearly four decades. His passion was spiritual direction and leading people to the Holy Spirit on what he called the Journey Inward.Dr. Finch was a world traveler, visiting each continent, but found Antarctica to be his Garden of Eden. He was a prolific writer and continually searched for a more authentic self through the power of the Holy Spirit. Dr. Finchs family members include his ex-wife, Dagi Finch; daughter Jennifer Lewis of Altadena, California; son John Finch II of Lake Forest Park; daughters Jillian Kane of West Seattle, and Indra Finch of Lakewood. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Memorial Services were held on January 9th at Haven of Rest, Gig Harbor. Remembrances may be made to the Tahoma Audubon Society, 2917 Morrison Rd. W., University Place, WA 98366, or the Ronald Reagan President ial Library Foundation, P.O. Box 5020, Simi Valley, CA 93062-5020.

I was so pleased to be included in John's life. He was strong, sure, and unfailingly cheery. He may not always have been right-none of us are-but he was never in doubt! I will miss him.
