Joseph Otis Obituary

OTIS-Joseph J. Otis, entered into life on October 20, 1917 and entered into Heaven on February 29, 2008 at 90 years of age. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from UC Berkeley, he served in the Marines in World War II, and he earned a Doctorate of Law de gree from Southwestern University. He practiced law in San Gabriel until his retirement in 1988, and he enjoyed gardening thereafter. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club in San Gabriel. He attended Emmaus First Lutheran Church in Alhambra and First Lutheran Church in Temple City. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Shirley June Otis; his six children, Robert Otis, Joan Otis Gill, Glenn Otis, Brian Otis, Kenneth Otis, and Michael Otis; his daughter law-in-law, Denise Otis; his son-in-law, Douglas Gill; his daughter-in-law, Kathryn Otis; his three grandchildren, Nathan Gill, Janae Gill, and Samuel Otis; his brother, Superior Court Judge John K. Otis; his sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Otis and Mary B. Otis; his niece, Gail Kaipio; his grand-niece, Molly Varese; his grand-nephew, Quinn Kaipio; his sister-in-law, Sherry Hansen; and his dog, Maggie. A funeral service will be held today at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel at Turner and Stevens Mortuary in Alhambra, with a graveside service at San Gabriel Cemetery.
