Julia Steele Obituary

STEELE, Julia Ann "Julie"

Julia Ann "Julie" Steele was born on December 4, 1934 and was raised in Pasadena, California. Julie had been diagnosed with cancer earlier in 2015 and sustained a couple successful surgeries, however, on October 22nd she suffered a stroke that took her life. Julie had adventure in her soul and never gave up, even after her cancer diagnosis and undergoing the surgeries she was still her vibrant self and she never let it stop her or slow her down. Recently she fulfilled her desire to travel and she visited many places including Solvang, San Francisco, Hawaii, Alaska, and Canada.
Julie married Richard "Spark" Steele in 1955 and the two were inseparable. Julie and Spark worked together, had fun together, and had a marriage all admired. It was a delight to be in their company. The two resided in Monrovia, but spent many a weekend going between their ranch house in Lucerne Valley or a cozy cabin in Big Bear Lake. After Julie's retirement from their family business, Carburetor Engineering, she spent much of her time antiquing. She had a keen eye for beautiful pieces and sold her collectibles at antique shops in Monrovia and Fawnskin. Spark and Julie enjoyed 57 years of love and companionship until he passed in 2013. Julie continued to live in Monrovia, but never stopped visiting the ranch or going to Big Bear. Long Boy, their beloved desert tortoise of 30 years, has a loving new home with a family in Covina.
As all who knew Julie will know, she was a kind, caring and loyal friend. She was an inspiration to family and friends and always had a positive influence on everyone she met. She will be missed tremendously.
