Louis Nevarez

1950 - 2021

September 14, 1950 - November 30, 2021 Louis "Big Lou" Nevarez passed away on November 30, 2021. He leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Petra, his sons Alonzo and Armando and his son-in-law Chris and daughter-in-law Tawny. Lou grew up in Boyle Heights and graduated from Assumption Grammar School. He then graduated from Cathedral High School, where he was active in sports and many social clubs. His high school experience blessed him with many friends for life and made him realize the importance of education. His time at Cathedral is what led to his lifelong dedication to fundraising on behalf of education. After High School, Lou embarked on a successful 50+ career in construction and sheet metal. He truly enjoyed his work and took pride in his business relationships. Another bonus was that he worked for a family business where he was able to spend so much time with Michael, Laura, Anna, and Becky. The most amazing thing about Lou was his love for life. He always gave 1000% and lived life to the fullest. He was very generous and was always helping others. He had a big family and a big circle of friends who he truly loved. He loved sports The Lakers, the Rams, the Dodgers, USC Football, and UCLA Basketball. He loved Las Vegas, Hawaii, the Santa Anita Racetrack, and the Dal Rae. He loved Los Angeles and enjoyed trying new restaurants and indulging in the city's delights. He loved his church and had a strong faith. He loved listening to music such as Jazz, Mariachis, the Rolling Stones, and Motown. He relished visiting and chatting with his friends. He loved giving back to the community. And most importantly he loved his wife and sons. The Nevarez Family will be hosting a celebration of Lou's life on March 4, 2022, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels in Los Angeles. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the "Cathedral High School Lou Nevarez Scholarship Fund" to carry on his legacy. Lou would have loved that.
