Memories and Condolences
for Philip Perez

Not sure what to say?

May 15, 2011

Seeing Phil had passed took me back to memories of seeing him at Poly High, the Hutch, and around the Long Beach of our youth. We would see each other about town as we did our work and he always had a smile and a friendly hand shake for me and I for him. A good man.

Rest in peace,
Jack Dilday, Poly class of 1960

Philip was my uncle, I remember him best from my childhood,he was fun. He would often stop by to eat lunch during the summer at my grandmas house (his moms). He wouldn't call me by my name Jerri he called me "Lazy Bones Jones" cuz I would wake up at his arrival. Uncle Philip always gave me attention.sometimes he would hand cuff me to something while he ate. he gave me a Charlie Horse once, that sucker hurt! R.I.P Uncle Philip, thanks for being part of my childhood, and making me laugh.

Phil and I were classmates at Poly and I knew him well. We had great times at parties, at the Hutch, and football games. The memories of those years were treasures and he was certainly a part of them. I saw him over the years at reunions, and while I was an administrator at Franklin Jr. High. He was working the neighborhood and we cooperated and shared information. He was a good man! Always polite and positive. I don't remember him ever saying a bad word to or about anybody. I'm proud to have known him and am grateful for the times we shared. He will be missed! John Green, Poly class of '59

Phil and I were great friends from the time we were both 5 years old. My family, particularly my mother, thought the world of him and treated him like another son. We did a lot of things together. Double dated often. I remember being with him when he bought his first car, a model A Ford. We got it off the back of a used car lot for $50...then began to take it apart, not keeping track of anything. I eventually towed him from LB to Wilmington by rope to a guy that helped us put it back together. I have lost a true friend. He was a great man with a big heart. I am deeply saddened. John Young.

Phil walked the beat on the Pike in the early 60s at the same time I worked there. He was fun to work with and had a great sense of humor. Even though I only saw him about twice a year ( with that cigar in his mouth..) I'll miss him. Rest in peace my Brother. Bernard (Frenchy ) Frydman. LBPD Retired.

Officer Phil Perez was the first L. B. Police Officer to pull me over for a violation of a burnt out taillight when I was in High School. When I showed him my license he recognized by last name and asked me if I was Craine's little sister. I said yes, he said my brother and him were friends and he couldn't give me a ticket. I thanked him and told him that was a very nice thing to do. I had seen him several times at occasions and he was one of the nicest men I knew. He will really be missed by his family and the department and friends who were fortunate to know him. He was truly a wonderful, caring person. RIP Officer Perez Jo Ann Craine Hamand Haroulakis
