Robert Burns Obituary

Robert P. Burns
September 13, 1947 - January 8, 2017

Bob passed away from prostate cancer at the age of 69. He was raised in Arcadia and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1965. He received a B.B.A. degree from the Cal Poly-Pomona and was a successful sales executive in the food and flavoring industry for more than 35 years. Most recently he was a crew member at Trader Joe's.

Bob was the son of the late A.J. and Helen Burns and the beloved husband of Pamela for 47 years. He will be loved and remembered by his sister Carol (Burns) Smith, his beloved children Robb and Wendy (Harris), treasured grandchildren Cortlyn, Maxwell, and Violet Harris, son-in-law Steven Harris, and many friends and family members.

He loved fly fishing, enjoyed photography, being with family and friends, playing with his grandchildren, and Empowerment Coaching. He and Pam enjoyed traveling and recently made a final road trip to Mt. Rushmore. A lifelong Dodgers fan, he became an avid Chicago Cubs fan when they moved to Illinois. The Cubs finally brought him pure joy when they won the 2016 World Series.

To his end, Bob touched many people with his smile, humor and generosity. A memorial gathering was held in his honor.

Donations can be made to the wonderful doctors and staff at the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Chicago, chicagoprostatefoundation.org/donate/

Hard to believe Bob has been gone for 5 years. I truly miss his friendship our frequent lunches. He is sorely missed however, not forgotten. I hope all is well with Pam and the family.

Pam,
I remember Bob, you and us often since he passed. We had some wonderful times especially when he and I went drinking during the Christmas holiday in 1971 and bought dresses for you and Peggy while drunk-not a good idea but we laughed so hard. Recently I remembered him while talking with a retired P&G sales executive about our experiences in the food industry. He was a true professional and I do miss him. I regret not being able to find you guys so we could have seen each other one more time.

Pam, I was so saddened to hear of Bob's passing. Bob was a wonderful friend and I have fond memories of all the lunches we shared discussing business and our lives. I will sorely miss him. Please accept my sympathies and I hope you and your family will find comfort in the many memories you shared.

What a beautiful tribute to Bob. He was a wonderful friend and will be missed by his family and many friends. He is now free of all pain and may he rest in peace. He lived a good life and was a good husband, father, grandfather, son and brother.
Love, Arlene Smith

Pamela,
Nearly not a year goes by that I do not remember you and Bob so fondly. You and Bob were so excited when your first child was born as were your family and friends. There are no words that can adequately express my sorrow or understand your loss except to say that I will and most likely everyone else who knew Bob, will miss him. He was an inspiration to me and I am sure others for his natural, professional, and kind personal interaction with others. I truly will miss him as I have since 1972. With the greatest respect, I am Bruce B. Wood
