Robert Ettienne Obituary

ETTIENNE, ROBERT STANLEY February 20, 1915 - Sept. 1, 2011 Robert Stanley Ettienne died September 1, 2011 in Salem, Oregon, at the age of 96. He was born in Pasadena, California at St. Luke's Hospital to loving parents; father, Jon Michael Etienne, and mother Louise Schaufele. He grew up working hard in his parent's vineyard, the Etienne Brothers Vineyard in Pasadena. These formative years instilled in him a strong work ethic. His primary and high school years were in Pasadena at John Marshall Jr. High and Pasadena High School and Junior College from which he graduated. He went on to Cal Berkeley graduating in 1939 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Continuing on from there to Stanford Business School he completed his Masters of Business Administration in 1941. He was drafted in 1942 even though he was an only son of his parents. He served his country honorably during WWII and was discharged with the rank of Captain and received a Victory Medal for his service. He returned to Pasadena and found his gift in accounting, opening up his own firm on Colorado Blvd. Accounting was his passion. He also worked for his friends company Roto Rooter in Mission Viejo, as their financial advisor. He worked diligently until the age of 73 when his hearing disability forced him into retirement in 1988. He also worked for the California Board of Accountancy from September 17, 1980 to December 31, 1988, receiving the highest honor, a Certificate of Appreciation at the end of his tenure. Robert met the love of his life at a German Coffee Shop in 1971. Elizabeth was his friend first and later became his loving wife. They were married in 1980 and she has been his loyal wife and caretaker for 31 years. He is survived by his devoted wife Elizabeth Ettienne. No services are planned.
