Vincent Vergara

VERGARA- Vincent Vergara was born February 17, 1934, in Los Angeles, California and passed away, June 5, 2011 in Arcadia, California, at the age of 77. He leaves his wife of 54 years, Lupe; his son, Kenneth and wife Maria, sons Thomas, and Gilbert; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many family members and close friends. He is preceded in death by his youngest son, Vincent Paul. Vince graduated from Belmont High School and Los Angeles Trade Technical School and went to work for the Southern California Gas Company, Printing Division. He also obtained a Bachelor's degree from Cal State Los Angeles in 1976. He joined the Service in 1956 and Honorably Discharged from the Army, 82 Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina in December, 1958. He continued work for the Gas Company, and retired in 1991. Vince met his wife, Lupe in 1953, and they married March 30th, 1957. After living in Los Angeles, they moved to San Gabriel where they raised their family. Vince had a tremendous passion for his family and friends. He liked nothing better than family get-togethers where he could hold center stage with his storytelling. He liked to travel with his family and friends, both the "old neighborhood" and the new friends he made throughout life's journey. He loved to read, and would debate anyone he could find on World Events, politics, sports or religion. He lived his life to the fullest. As he neared the end of his journey, his love for his wife Lupe always burned bright. His speech was gone, but his eyes sparkled when he would hold her hand. We will all miss Vince - our Dad, our husband, our family member, our friend. A funeral service will be held 10:30 AM on June 13 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Temple City, located at 5605 Cloverly Avenue, with a private burial to follow on June 14th. The family would like to extend a special thanks of appreciation and gratitude to Seasons Hospice and Baldwin Gardens Nursing Home for their extraordinary care and support during Dad's final days.
