Uncle Dick,

You always had words of wisdom, and a smile on your face. Through your hard outer shell, we always knew there was a loving, caring man inside. You always beamed when the girls came to visit, and we all always enjoyed your company. The many great memories will stay with us forever. I hope you're at peace now, and smiling down on us.

With love and respect,

Uncle Dick,

I wish more than anything to be able to give you one last hug and tell you that I love you. As I never got to meet my mother's father, you stepped in and acted like a grandfather to me and my sister. I sincerely looked forward to meeting you for breakfast every time I was in town visiting the family.

I have so many fond memories of you and have nothing but admiration and love for you Uncle. Thank you for being there since I was a little girl and blessing me with your love and affection.

I am smiling as I write this, remembering the day that you carried my little body blocks back from the park to Grandma's house. From old memories like that to the most recent (you holding that red balloon in front of Friendly's ice cream parlor and me telling you that you reminded me of the old man from the movie UP), I can only help but smile.

Thank you for having not only the strength to serve our country, but also the love and affection to care for your family. A day will not pass that I don't miss your shining smile and loving demeanor.

You will always be in my heart.

Love Always,

Ariana Paige

Dearest Uncle Dick;

You will forever be one of my heroes. I liken you to Joe Pesci in the movie "Casino", and always describe you as such to those close to me who don't know you. A little guy much stronger than most understand. This is usually before I hear "you must be just like him"..and I smile.

You are a rarity, a REAL MAN in a sea of spineless, whiny males. Yet, you have a huge heart for those who really take time to look. You taught me to always stand strong for what I believe in, and Dad always taught me to stand for what is right. I have followed those lessons, even when it is unpopular or despite consequences...there is something about sleeping good at night, even if your dignity is all you have.

I am proud to be amongst the rankings of the Temple's...and only wish I had the opportunity to meet your dad to see where so much strength came from.

I already miss your sparkling eyes when you smile, and that sarcastic, plain talk humor. You and Dad showed me there is humor in the smallest moments of life. Dad and I practiced such many a morning in McDonalds...i still remember like yesterday.

All I can say is, I will not say good bye, but rather I'll see you soon on the other side.

Till then, remember to eat your peas....lol.

All my love, Bobby.

Semper Fidelis...you are God's Soldier Now.

Uncle Dick you sure were a special man to many people. So tough on the outside but those generous eyes and that loving smile gave it all away. You are one of the most intelligent, loyal and loving men I have known. Thank you for caring for everyone the way you did and always making me and my family feel special. Your loyalty to the Yankees always made us smile too!! The day we took you to the Yankees game was such a great day - to see you so happy! We will miss you so much. Until we meet again!! Uncle I wish I would have lived closer to you guys - it was always so easy to talk to you - no matter the distance or the amount of time - you were always there and I'll miss you - It was such a change to hear Dad's stories but from a much different point of view :) - Dad told me a long time ago that I reminded him of you, not sure if I ever told you that but there was a time when me you, dad and bob were all at a table together - all of us never really being around each other but I could all tell that I was a Temple - I'm so proud to have been your nephew and look forward to the time when I see you again - say Hi to Grandpa and Grandma and Uncle George for me --- I love you all - Semper fi -------

That fantastic chuckle with the grin telling me he's up to something ornery- but I don't care how tough my uncle Dick talked- he is a softy so full of love. The stories of he and my dad growing up reminds me of the love and mischief of my own boys- and it warms my heart. It might sounds silly to anyone not understanding, but so many years ago I mentioned to uncle dick how in love I am with the authentic Rhode Island coffee syrup. Little did I know that I would from then on be receiving shipments of this heavenly taste every time I ran low. More than the syrup, every bottle told me how much he loved me. It brings tears to my eyes to know the next laugh I hear, the next hug I feel, and the next cheers of coffee milk we will share will be in heaven. But I can't wait. Til then uncle- I love you so very much.
