Jonathan Giurbino Obituary

GIURBINO, JONATHAN PAUL MEMORIAL AND CELEBRATION OF LIFE: "Only the good die young..." Jonathan was tragically taken from us on Thursday, February 15, 2007 in the city of Sacramento, where he resided with his family in the nearby community of Folsom. Jonathan was born in Riverside, CA. on June 2, 1987, the middle child of parents George Joseph and Linda Paulette Giurbino. He is survived by his parents and sister, Jessica Ilene and brother, Joseph Angelo. Jonathan and his family moved to the Imperial Valley in 1993, where he attended elementary school at Westside, and junior high and high school in the city of Imperial. He also attended high school during his junior and senior years at Southwest High School in the city of El Centro. Jonathan was active as a youth in soccer, Little League, and high school baseball and football. He participated as a youth in 4H activities, where he raised and auctioned livestock at the annual Imperial Valley Fair. Jonathan also assisted with Babe Ruth Baseball as a City Umpire and worked during the summer as a life guard at the city pool, and in local construction. Jonathan had a Tom Sawyer zest for life and a charismatic personality, that captured the friendship of both young and old alike. He quickly charmed others, demonstrated loyalty and was known to help others in any way possible. He enjoyed weightlifting, playing racquetball, water sports and the sands of Glamis and Superstition Hills. There was no activity that seemed too impossible to Jonathan as he grew up. Jonathan moved with his parents and brother, Joseph, to the city of Folsom, Ca. in August of 2006, where he obtained an occupation in sales with American Exteriors. Jonathan enjoyed and did well in his new found community, where he enjoyed fishing, boating, and skiing in nearby Folsom Lake. Jonathan left this life at a too early age, barely having the opportunity to enjoy the gifts that life has to offer. Jonathan's greatest asset with his ability to build friendships with others who surrounded him. Jonathan's presence and charm will be truly missed by all who knew and loved that kid known by friends affectionately as "Beans". There will be a celebration of life and memorial service for Jonathan on Saturday, February 24, 2007, 11:00am at the Faith Assembly of God Church at 320 South "J" St., Imperial, CA. with a reception following the services at Sunbeam Lake Park at 7216 W. Sunbeam Lake Dr., in Seeley. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be provided in Jonathan's name to Correctional Peace Officers Foundation, P.O. Box 348390, Sacramento, CA. 95834 or to California Crime Victims Coalition, P.O. Box 894, El Centro, CA. 92244.

Jonathan will forever be remembered in every place he resided. His presense is still with us today. My prayers and thoughts go out to the Giurbino family. Give them the strength to get through this hard time, and realize that good ones are on it's way. There are no words to describe the feeling once someone you know and love has past, but slowly and surely, the tension will give, and we will know he's still with us. Rest in Peace Jon.

Linda and family I know from personal experience the pain of losing a child. Nothing I can say or do will take it away. I was so sad to read of Jonathans passing. Know that I pray for you to have some easing of your pain. I remember how supportive you were of me when we lost our girl. Though we haven't seen each other in awhile it doesn't mean I don't think of you. Again know I am so so sorry and I pray for you and your family.

Dear George, Linda, and Family,
We were shocked and saddened to hear of the loss of Jonathan. Although we have lost touch with you since your days in Riverside, we still have heartwarm memories of our time as neighbors on Sunnyside, of Jonathan's birth, and watching you and your young family grow. It comes as no surprise to us that he grew into such a wonderful young man, so full of life and giving. While we realize no words are adequate at this time, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. May you find peace and comfort in the love of others.
In friendship,
Mark, Pam, Sarah, Melissa, and Steve Balys

Johnathan had a love for life that no one will ever forget. His personality always brought happiness among everyone and could always put a smile on your face. Our memories of him will always be in our heart and not forgotten. Always seeing him on his gas-powered scooter and roasting hot dogs in our front yard (good times). We send our love and prayers to the Giurbino Family. May God be a comfort in your life during this time.

I always remember Jonathan fondly. He was always exuberant, and while in class he would try to be helpful and anticipate what I would need done-- like erasing the board. I know that Jonathan was not always "sweet," yet that is how I remember him. Silly, a little nutty, sometimes mischievious, but usually kind and friendly, always fun. His friends were paramount to him and he would do anything to help them out. It hard to believe that Jonathan is no longer a force in the world, someone to watch and see who and what he would develop into. My sincere condolences to all of you. You have suffered a loss that will be with you forever. Please know that if there is anything that I can do for you-- Please ask--- Madeline Ross

My prayers are with the family. I know words are inadequate even for someone like myself who loves words. I don't know how many times I called on "Mr. Giurbino" because he always had something especially interesting, even if it was off the topic, to add to a discussion. He was a totally unique individual who will be missed by all. Jeanne Thomas, 7th grade English teacher
