I met Joshua through his mother, Christina who's one of the most amazing people I've ever met and been privileged to know. I was going through things at my mom's house and found my journalism certificate from RCC and I thought of him immediately as he was editor in chief there not long after I left as an editor and writer at Viewpoints and remembered seeing him sitting at his desk there smiling. He was very talented including in his art and passionate including in service to his community. Teaching his art at city events and inspiring developing artists and activists too.

I met Josh while stationed in Ft. Richardson, AK. He lived next door to me for almost 2 years. We had some good times going out on our "Mid-Month Meals". Duran, Wright, Leone, Martinez & myself would go out to a different restaurant every month on the 15th and FEAST! Josh was a good guy with a good heart. I can't even remember seeing him angry. He'll be missed.

I am a very close friend of the Duran Family. It all began when I met Johnathen at UCR. I was a supervisor in Lothian Dormitory in Cafeteria and he was working in the evening as part of the janitorial staff. I met him again when we both participated in UECC AmeriCorps. The entire Duran family is very talented and gifted. I am so sorry to see such as gifted young man die in a tragic accident. His murals and art work is a beautiful contribution to Riverside. God Bless your family. Our prayers and thoughts are with you. The service was truly the way Josh would have wanted it. It reflected on his style. Lisa Diggs, Riverside, Ca

Josh, I met you when you were 13 or 14 years old. As a friend of you & your family I watched you grow up from a kid, into a wonderful man. You served your country & showed extreme courage by doing so without hesitation at a time when our country is in so much turmoil. You were always smart & so studious graduating high school & moving right on to college & you didn't let yourself get sucked into all the temptations that myself & others got into when you easily could have. In fact you fleed evil & your life reflects that. I don't know the circumstances of why you aren't here anymore it troubles me & I miss you but I know deep inside that you are one of God's helpers in the heavenly places & may God bless & watch over your family..I love you homie & I will always cherish the good times we did get to spend together.
