SCOTT CARROLL Obituary

SCOTT RICHARD CARROLL
Scott Carroll, age 66, of Corona, California, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2018.
Scott was born June 10, 1951 in Cleveland, Ohio to H. Richard and Sue Carroll. Fittingly, he was a die-hard fan of the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns his whole life. With his parents and sisters, Susie and Cindy, Scott lived in Cleveland, Conneaut, Ohio, Valley Forge, and then landed in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where he and his lifetime buddies played golf, soccer and traveled to the Jersey shore. In 1971, after his sophomore year at Grove City College, his family moved to southern California. Two years later, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Grove City and met his future wife, Susan.
After graduation, Scott started his 39 year career designing roof trusses. He studied and became a registered civil and structural engineer in the western states, including Hawaii and Alaska. He took pride in his work and built strong friendships with coworkers and customers. Notably, he served as President of the Truss Plate Institute for a few years.
When not in the office, he traveled and played golf at many courses across the United States with both friends and colleagues. In 1976, he and his wife Susan moved to Corona to raise their three children, Diane, Robert and Michael. Scott sponsored and helped coach his sons' baseball, soccer, basketball and football teams and attended many a dance recital. He loved his family, dogs, music, science, sports and reading.
Scott is survived by his wife of 43 years, Susan; his children Diane (Brook), Robert (Katherine) and Michael (Allyson); his beloved grandchildren, Julia, Allison, Claire, Lauren and Jack; his mother Sue; his sisters Sue (Al) and Cynthia (Tom); his brother-in-law Greg (Kathy) and niece Jaimee (Davey) and nephews Doug, Brian and Brad. Scott was predeceased by his father H. Richard and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Beverly Hamilton.
A Celebration of Scott's Life will be held on Saturday, February 10th at 1:00 pm at Crestlawn Memorial Park, 11500 Arlington Avenue, Riverside, California. Scott participated and supported many organizations and his family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, friends consider making a contribution to their favorite charity.

Sue and family,
We just wanted to touch base and let you know how sorry we are to hear this sad news. I know Sue was telling me recently about Scott having advanced Alzheimer's so while it is difficult to lose him, it is a mixed feeling as you must know the relief he now has to be free of that awful disease.
I texted Jeff last night to let him know and his text back to me pretty much sums up how we remember him back in those Little League years. "That's too bad. He was one of the nicest guys ever."
Our sincere condolences from Alice and me, and of course Jeff as well.
