76, passed away Sept. 3, 2011 after losing his battle with Obstructive Lung Disease with Pneumonia. Born November 18, 1934 to Willie and Evelyn Gollrad in Giddings Texas. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ruth, Step-daughters; Kari Lyn Sabin, Terri Scheel and husband Bill, Jerri E. Jones, grandchildren; Sam, James, Jay, Joey, Kari Louise, Olivia; Sisters, Helen Cannon, Montgomery, TX and Alene McKeown, Giddings, TX, Nieces & Nephews, Donna Newhouse, Patti Butler and Husband Mike, Ken Gollrad of Arkansas, Don Cannon and wife Judy of Kingsland, TX as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. Grateful for the love he bestowed on them are his precious pugs, Amanda, Pepper, Pharaoh and Matilda, as well as those we keep, while the owners are away.
Marvin worked for The Houston Post from 1957 Until it closed April, 1995. He was a long time member of The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo earning his Lifetime Committeeman's Badge. He also was a member of Hold'em & Hit'em, Houston Farm & Ranch, serving as a Director and Chairman of the Front Line Committee.
He enjoyed living in Pearland and liked to play '42 a.k.a Texas Bridge and loved taking care of friends pets, Abby, Lexie & Katie during the day.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Pug Hearts, The Houston Pug Rescue; Shriners Children's Hospital; Country Place Golf Association; Houston SPCA or any favorite local charity.
Our family has only praise and heartfelt thanks to the caring and compassionate Doctors and Nurses who attended him in the ICU @ Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital for 15 days.

Ruth you and the family have my deepest sympathy. Marvin was a friendly and caring person to those all around him. Know he will be missed by many. May God's comfort and peace be with you.

Ruth, I am saddened to read about Marvins passing. We had so many good times going to bowling tournaments, etc and working at the Post. God bless you in the days ahead.
