He attended grade school in St. Anna, Wisconsin and graduated from Kiel High School in 1959. He attended Oshkosh State College (now University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh) in
1964, earning a B.S. degree in Chemistry. He went to work for Dow Chemical in Midland, Michigan.
On June 3, 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Mattes. Soon after, Cliff was offered the opportunity to be a chemist at the Unocal chemical plant in Kenai, Alaska. They spent the next 54 years together in Kenai.
Cliff enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being a private pilot. He was a volunteer fireman, a member of the Civil Air Patrol, a shrewd Bridge player, a city league basketball star (Harbor View Hogs), a bowler, and a golfer.
During the summers Cliff and Kathy enjoyed visits from family and friends. Cliff enjoyed taking their guests fishing, clamming, and sightseeing in his airplane. An excellent cook, he treated his guests to razor clams, salmon, and halibut. He enjoyed duck and caribou hunting with friends in the fall and winter.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy, son Ted, daughter-in-law, Kim, and his granddaughter, Karliah.; siblings Tony (Mary Ellen) Heus, David (Carol) Heus, Bob Heus (Linda) Mary Burnett, and brother-in-law Fred Mattes; nephews Eric Heus, Jim Heus, Andy Heus, Phil (Karol) Mattes ; nieces Gretel (John) Beck and Kari Heus.
Cliff was preceded in death by his parents Cliff and Dorothy Heus, his brother Steve Heus, his niece Paula Benzel and sister-in-law Carol Mattes.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he was patient, kind and wise; ready for anything be it a relaxing chat or an adventure. His cremated remains will be placed in areas he loved in Alaska and Wisconsin.
Plans for a "Sharing of his Life" will take place in the future.

I remember Cliff as being somewhat quiet, but ever so coy! He was a kind and gentle man that will be missed by many. Rest in peace Cliff!

Cliff was great friend. A big terror on the Hogs basketball team. I never heard a bitter word from cliff. A great smile, a beautiful marriage, and a great friend!
