Karen Brewer Obituary

Karen Ann Brewer, 53, died June 14, 2018 in Kasilof, Alaska at her home with Tiger and Judy Demers. Karen's departure was peaceful and on her terms. She was surrounded by her family and lots of love.

At her request no service will be held. Karen would ask that you do something outdoors and always remember LIFE IS GOOD.

Karen was born Dec. 30, 1964 in Seward, Alaska to James Byron Brewer and Dorris Ann (Drew) Brewer.

She brought a passion to her career with the Kenai Peninsula School District and was a champion of children. Cancer dictated her retirement in 2017 from Soldotna Montessori School. The school community was generous in many ways during her journey.

Her family writes, "Karen was the most authentic person in the world, full of spunk, love, and character. She took the world by storm and impacted everyone she encountered more than they will ever know. She was a bright light that cheered you up when she was in your circle … pure sunshine."

Karen is survived by daughter Olivia Fair and her fiancée Chris Lafferty, and son Kelty Fair; niece, Teddie Purdy, Janeice and Dave Amick, Abby Amick, many friends and extended family.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents and little brother, Byron.

As per Karen, "For my friends who feel the need to do the flower thing … they die - if you must do the flower thing at least buy a lilac tree and plant it some place that brings you joy, love, happiness and hope. Life is good."

Karen logged many miles on the trails and wished for any donations to be made to the Tsalteshi Trails Association, PO Box 4076, Soldotna, AK 99669.

Memories are welcomed and may be sent to Karen's children at 3601 E. 42nd Ave, Apt 702, Anchorage, AK 99508.

Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
