Evelyn Stringer

1930 - 2025

Evelyn May (Kirner) Stringer, aged 95, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025 in Ferndale, Washington. She was born in Port Townsend, Washington on February 14, 1930 to parents, Conrad and Naomia Kirner of Sequim, Washington. She attended Sequim schools and graduated in 1948 from Sequim High School. She went to Peninsula College, majoring in business and art.

She worked hard in many different jobs. She was co-owner of Champion's Jewelry and Stringer Automotive in Sequim. She was very generous to family members and those in need. She was very active in her community and was a member of Sequim Presbyterian Church, Sequim and Ferndale Eastern Star, Sequim VFW Auxiliary, Peninsula Chapter of American Ex-Prisoners Of War, Ferndale Senior Center and Red Hats. She served as Worthy Matron of Sequim Eastern Star and Mother Advisor of Sequim Rainbow Girls.

She was an avid gardener, talented artist and excellent seamstress. She had a passion for mystery novels and number puzzles. She loved horse back riding, camping, fishing, swimming, picnics and bike riding. Best of all she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed having all the family gather at her home in Sequim for dinner parties.

Her parents Conrad and Naomia Kirner, brothers Bon Kirner and Harry Kirner, husband Edward Stringer, son Steven Champion, grandson Michael Ripley, granddaughter Nikhita Rogers preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother Joseph Kirner (Carol), daughter Connie Porter (Bob), son Harry Ripley, son Hugh Champion and daughter Catherine Miller (Lloyd), step-son Mike Stringer (Shawna), granddaughters Caroline King, Teresa White (Dan), Amber Porter (Jeremy), Vanessa Smith (Chad), MaryAlexandria-Rogers Zuleta (Andres) and Naomi Resh (Hadley), many step grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 on the way, and 1 great great grandchild.

There will be a graveside service at Sequim View Cemetery at 1:00 pm on September 22, 2025.
