John Haggerty Obituary
John Adilor Haggerty passed of natural causes on February 24, 2021. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife Sandra Haggerty and their beloved daughters; Tina Shuler and Yvette Haggerty; their son-n-laws Keith Shuler and Steve Runnion and their three grandchildren his first and only grandson Cody Runnion and his two granddaughter's Carly Jo Shuler and Kenzie Shuler. He is also survived by his younger sisters; Judy Haggerty and Teresa Breinholt; and younger brothers; Patrick Haggerty, Pete Haggerty and Tim Haggerty; and too many to name but all very loved nieces, nephews and cousins. John was preceded in his death by his father, Charles Edward Haggerty; mother, Asylda Mary Remillard; older sister, Mary Craver; younger sister Genny Haggerty; younger brothers Guy Haggerty, Tom Haggerty and Mark Haggerty.
John was born on October 4, 1938 to Charles Edward Haggerty and Asylda Mary Remillard, in Lake City, South Dakota. They moved to Washington eventually settling in Port Angeles, WA at the family farm on the lower Elwha in 1946. The stories on the family farm were endless. John could share stories for hours, laughing about all the shenanigans he would get into with his brothers and sisters.
So many great memories and a wonderful childhood. After graduating from Port Angeles High School in 1956, John served in the United States Army Reserves for 3 years. At that point he started his life long career in construction. He worked all over the PNW which eventually led him to meeting and falling in love with his wife Sandra Edgmon in Renton, WA. John and Sandra were married June 9, 1973 in Port Angeles, WA. They started their lives together in Forks, WA where they started their family. John absolutely loved being a father. They spent their first 10 years in Forks building life long friendships, raising their daughters, and instilling the importance of family.
They moved to Port Angeles in 1983 to be closer to family and career opportunities. They had memorable family reunions, huge family holiday celebrations, playing cards, enjoying the outdoors together camping, clam digging and cutting firewood. John also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family, friends and later in life with his sons. John had some amazing Alaskan fishing trips
John had many successes in his career as a Superintendent a few of his projects in Port Angeles include; Park View Villas, Armory Square, The Landing, Deer Park Cinemas and Ruddell's Auto Mall.
He also had the opportunity for him and Sandra to live in Montana and Wyoming while supervising a few projects. They really enjoyed the adventure and opportunity to explore those two states.
During John's retirement he spent many years in Spokane, WA and Sitka, AK with Sandra to be closer to their daughter's and their families. He attended every game, recital and concert his granddaughters were in. John had a passion for history and reading which he enjoyed to discuss with everyone. His ultimate love was being with his family. John was blessed to have extended family that gave him 7 more grandchildren; Courtney, Mia and Roz Piper and Oliver and Lafe Wilday, and Logan and Cole Dillon and three more daughters Andrea Piper Grall, Deanna Shuler Wilday and Tami Dillon that he absolutely loved, adored and cherished every moment he was with them.
John was a honest, hardworking and generous man. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend that will be missed dearly and never forgotten and will live on in the hearts of those that loved him.
