Roy Jr. Obituary

Roy Black Jr., 81, passed away after battling lung disease.

Roy was born right here on the Olympic Peninsula on March 15, 1936, in La Push to Roy Sr. and Ethel Rose Payne Black.

Roy's services to the communities in which he lived were many. He printed and owned the Forks Forum, was director for the Head Start progam in La Push, served on the council for Head Start in La Push, he was the executive director for the tribe, and was a drug and alcohol counselor and printing director in Crescent City, California.

Roy loved the beach, sitting on his porch, people watching and feeding his crows. His true love was watching all sports. Of course his favorite teams were the Huskies, Seahawks and Mariners.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ethel Black; and siblings Roland, Vernie, Irene, Clyde, Jersey, Bonnie, Ronald and Sherman.

Roy is survived by his daughters, Vicki (Tom) Munyon, Lisa Story and Jennie Black; his sons, Roy (Stephanie) Black III and Kenneth "Charlie" (Mitzi) Black; his brother, Bert Black; and grandchildren Rosanna, Danielle, Jessica, Clinton, Clarinda, Sheila, Stacey, Ronni, Kelly, Brandi and his famous grandson "Jacob Black" from Twilight. Roy also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren.

There was a celebration of life held for Roy at the Akalat Center in La Push on Saturday.

What as sad loss to the local community.
He was amazing.
One of my favorite activities as a kid out learning about the world was stopping by the Forks Forum office and watching in amazement as he set the type to print the paper. This is a memory I can never forget.
He was as patient as could be with all my questions and always kind.
I cannot tell you what a wonderful memory this left in my childhood.
God bless you and God Speed Roy.
