Roswell Denlinger Obituary

Roswell Schwalm Denlinger, 63, of Enola, PA, passed away at home on March 27, 2024, following a relatively short illness with an aggressive thyroid cancer. He was born on December 22, 1960, in Lancaster, PA, to the late Herbert Myers Denlinger and Marie Elizabeth Denlinger, and he grew up in Enola, PA.

Ross, known for his cheerful, friendly, funny, thoughtful, kind, honest, trustworthy, and loyal nature, was like a big kid at heart and he found joy in the simple things in life. He enjoyed hot air balloons, trains (he was heartbroken when Roadside America closed), auto racing, spicy foods, cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and when he was younger he did a lot of bicycling. Ross was a graduate of East Penn High School and several technical schools. Following in his big brother's footsteps, he dedicated most of his career to working at family arcades, including Time Out in the 80s and early 90s, and Family Fun Center from the early 90s until the month before his passing. Even when traveling he always liked to check out the local arcades.

Ross is survived by his beloved wife Viktoria (nee Copenhaver) and stepson Timothy Stine, his brother John Denlinger of Chesterfield, MO, his sister Christine Kime (and partner Todd Diller) of Harrisburg, PA, his nephew Todd Kime (and wife Shannon) of Schulenburg, TX, his niece Vanessa Avakian (and husband Erik) of Enola, PA, and his great nephews and nieces Shayne Stevenson of Tampa, FL, and Sadie, Eva, and Isaac Avakian of Enola, PA.

An informal Celebration of Life picnic will take place rain or shine on Saturday, May 4th, at noon, at Adams-Ricci Park, 100 East Penn Drive, Enola. All who knew Ross are invited to attend and are encouraged to dress casual. Food and drinks will be provided, but guests should feel free to bring a dish if they wish.

Over nearly two decades, Ross and I embarked on an extraordinary journey at the Family Fun Center, navigating through various locations together. Despite his imposing stature, Ross exuded an effortlessly approachable demeanor, initiating conversations with ease wherever he went. His steadfast work ethic and commitment to exceptional customer service served as a constant source of inspiration for us all.

Ross had a remarkable knack for finding joy in life's simple pleasures, whether it was executing a flawless balloon landing, celebrating a Steelers victory, or effortlessly maneuvering an arcade machine. His loyalty and honesty were unwavering, qualities that I deeply admired and respected.

Throughout our time together, Ross imparted invaluable lessons, shaping my perspective in profound ways. The memories we created will be cherished for a lifetime, serving as a testament to the profound impact he had on those around him.

Ross was an amazing person. He was so kind, thoughtful, and funny. He made friends everywhere he went. I enjoyed working with Ross so much. He was such a joy to be around. Ross was a big teddy bear who you just felt you wanted to hug. He was someone everyone gravitated to because of his kind and caring nature. Ross had such a big heart and beautiful soul. I have so many happy and funny memories of the years I spent working and just hanging out with Ross. Rest in Peace dear friend.
