Bill gave us our first apartment back in the early 90's above the old Smith Appliances building on Hanover. I'll never forget trying to pay a security deposit and he said "nah that's not needed, use it to buy something for your new apartment!" Very kind man.

Dear Jody and family,
I'm so sorry for the passing of husband, father, and Grandfather. Bill. We were golfing partners for many years at the Carlisle Country Club. All our appliances were bought at Smith's. I will never forget when Doc and his boys delivered a washer and dryer to Myrtle Beach, S.C. Of course, golf was part of the delivery charge. Doc gave his life to family and the Borough of Carlisle. He was a good man, and we loved him.
All our love and caring,
Candy and Sam Gruber

I always looked forward to a conversation with Doc and Jody. He was without a doubt the dearest man. So kind and generous, he will be missed. Thank you Doc for all your service to Carlisle and your friendship, that we cherish. Love to Jody and family

I have known Doc my entire adult life and he enriched it immensely. He was a true friend to me, my late wife Jan and my dad. I have known Jody longer (remember when all the kids used to hang out in your parent´s front yard?). Doc was a true friend and I had the pleasure of representing him personally and his business partnerships for many years, plus serving as the Borough Solicitor during his time on Council and as Mayor. His word was his bond. Ironically, I was thinking about how he and Jody were doing several weeks before his passing. I regret that I did not follow through and contact them one last time.
I extend my deepest condolences to Jody and his family and trust that they will be able to move forward remembering pleasant memories. I have many stories to tell about Doc but space does not permit. I regret that since I retired to Arizona I will be unable to attend his celebration of life, but my memories of Doc will be with me.
Godspeed to Jody, his family and all who knew him!
