I just checked my email to see this news, and though he's risen to glory two months ago, the tears keep filling up my eyes. He was such a wonderful, funny, onerry young curmudgeon. I am so very sorry that he's not going to be an old curmudgeon (sixty really is young to this 73-year-old listmate!)

I'm a bit jealous of those of you who were good enough friends to know him as Andy. He was Andrew to the members of the Sewanee alumni listserve, where he always energized our email exchanges with his wit and wisdom. The sad news reached us only yesterday, and we're sharing stories and Andrew's memorable quotes. My condolences to his family and good friends. He is missed.

I had the privilege of both on-line and face-to-face acquaintanceship with this fine person. We shared a couple of lunches, as well as much correspondence. He attended my ordinations. We will all be poorer for his absence among us.

He was one of the first to go to help in emergencies like cyclones etc. We met Andrew in May 2004. A lovely big, strong, caring, dependable friend. I have photos of that meeting at http://piopionz. com/gallery2/v/RIP-Andrew_Auld/

I have just learned of this very sad happening. I also know Andrew through an Anglican discussion list. I will sorely miss his posts. May he rest in the arms of our Lord. Also, prayers for those that loved him and are feeling so very empty tonight.

I also knew Andrew through Anglican email discussion lists. He was a thoroughly good man. I am sad that he had died so young. I send my deepest condolences to his family and friends. May Andrew rest in peace in God's nearer presence and rise in Glory with all the saints in Light.

I've known Andrew, aka the Omoo, for many years through various Episcopal online groups. He was a very funny man, and a man of deep faith also. He will be greatly missed, but i know he is with Jesus at this moment.

I knew Andrew only online, in Episcopalian groups. Over the years, he was one of the few I kept in correspondence with. I miss his voice, and wish I had learned sooner of his passing. As usual, I owed him a couple of notes.

Rest in peace, Andrew.

I knew Andrew from an email list: he was one of resident curmudgeons and our favorite chef-in-residence. We miss his good humor and hope he is in a laughing place now.

I've known Andrew through our online correspondence in discussion groups for over ten years, and his many emails in these groups were always a joy to read. I'm going to miss him terribly.

I've only just learned of Andrew's passing. I knew him only through the Internet as a participant in Anglican discussion lists, but valued his friendship and his insight ... and I learned a lot from his recipes! May his soul rest peace with the saints in light.

I only just read of Andrew's death. He was a very dear friend and one of the truly sound and solid ones. I was just thinking of him yesterday and wondering why he was being so quiet.
At the time we met, he asked me to look up a passage from Wisdom; he had to read it at a friend's funeral. It was Wisdom 3:1-9. I'll read it again for him: "For the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God." His soul surely is.

I had meet Andy through a very dear friend Rose. I remember starting on a bocce league at outwater park the courts were a total mess. Andy would come out to watch us play and had offered to buy and deliver the cruched stones for our courts. That was the kind of person Andy was always there to lead a hand.
To the living, Andy is gone
To the sorrowful, he will never return
To the angry, he was cheated

But to the happy, Andy is at peace
And to the faithful, he has never left

Remember Andy in your heart,
Your thoughts, your memories
Of the times we cried
The times we fought
The times we laughed
He will be sadly missed by all that knew him.

NOBODY WILL EVER KNOW HOW CLOSE ANDY AND I WERE FOR THE PAST 19 YEARS. HE WAS MY LOVER & BEST FRIEND, AND THEN HE BECAME MY MENTOR. HE TAUGHT ME TO ASK QUESTIONS AS IF I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND SOMETHING. AND HE NEVER MADE ME FEEL STUPID. I LOVED HIM SO VERY VERY MUCH. AND IN THE END HE WAS MY SOULMATE. ANDY WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY DREAMS AND IN MY PRAYERS.
FOREVER YOURS ANDY, ROSE.

For my beloved "brother-in-law," Drewski.
There are so many memories throughout the years, too many to many to list all of them, some never to mention!
When I think of Andy, I will always remember his great intelligence, and of course, being the smartest man in the world, him hollering at me for getting in his way when cooking, introducing me to Godiva chocolates, being my daughter's "prom date," his incredible pecan pies he made for me, the list goes on and on. But the most important thing that Andy has left with me is what he shared with my sister, Ro. That can never be taken away.
Andy will always remain a special person in my heart. I will miss him very much.
Love,
Mary Lou

ANDY AT MY HOUSE MAY 2007

April 2, 2008

ANDY HAS BEEN A PART OF MY FAMILY FOR NEARLY 20 YEARS. HE TOOK ME TO MY FIRST NASCAR RACE AT WATKINS GLENN WHEN I WAS 16 YEARS OLD. HE TAUGHT ME HOW TO SHOOT SKEET ALSO. HE WAS LIKE AN UNCLE TO ME AND ALSO A BEST FRIEND. SINCE I'VE LIVED IN FLORIDA, HE HAS ALWAYS COME TO VISIT ME AT MY HOME. WHEN ANDY MOVED HERE WE SPENT ALOT OF TIME BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN HIS HOUSE AND MINE. ONE OF THE LAST TIMES HE WAS HERE WAS ON MY BIRTHDAY LAST MAY AND HE TOOK ME GOLFING, WE WERE ON THE 12TH HOLE WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT IN OUR GOLF CART AND HAD TO WAIT 30 MINUETS FOR THEM TO BRING A NEW ONE. I WILL NEVER FORGET THE LATE NIGHT CARD GAMES AND YATZEE GAMES WE'VE PLAYED OVER THE YEARS TOGETHER, AS WELL AS THE DRINKIN IT UP. (LOL) I WILL MISS HIM GREATLY AND HE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. I WILL CHERISH THESE MEMORIES FOREVER! I LOVE YOU ANDY!

My cousin, Andy, whom I called "Drew," was a good soul. I know the people at St. Mark's Village (Palm Harbor) will miss his face as he visited weekly to help and support his mother, Roberta. His humor filled the room and his compassion, so close to the surface, touched all who knew him. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. May God Bless your soul, Andrew.
Love, Meg

My good friend Andy will be greatly missed by wife Cindy and myself. A conversation with Andy was always an experience and entertaining. We got to be very good friends over the past few years and I always enjoyed his company as we had many laughs and good times together. My prayers are with Andy, his family and close friends. I miss you my friend. Pleasant sailing. Your Bud Randy
