Barbara Stewart Obituary
Barbara Sims Stewart, of Century FL passed from this life December 21, 2015. Born December 9, 1928 in Walker County, Alabama to Andrew A. and Lorene G. Sims, she was a graduate of Carbon Hill High School and then the University Of Alabama School Of Nursing in Birmingham.
She married Dr. Thomas J. Stewart in November 1951 and shortly thereafter came to Century where Dr. Stewart practiced medicine for the next forty years while Barbara worked full-time raising eight children. She was a devout Christian lady, worshipping with the congregation of the Flomaton Church of Christ through the years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Allen B. Stewart, and a brother, John Lynn Sims.
She is survived by children Ann (Gary) Warrington of Lutts TN, Marilyn (Randy) Chesnutt of Malibu CA, Claudia (Louis) Avery of Macon GA, Thomas A. (Tealle) Stewart of Vestavia Hills AL, Julia (Dwight) Isenhower of Daphne AL, Barbara E. Stewart of Century FL, and Marian Moore Of Century FL, brothers Hoyt (Faye) Sims of Carbon Hill AL, Mike Sims of Wilsonville AL and Phillip (Joy) Sims of Huntsville AL, and sister-in-law Brenda Sims of Helena AL. Survivors also include twelve grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.
The family is indebted to those who provided the day-to-day care that our mother needed over the last few years, including Mom's daughter, Barbara, Linda Dortch, Deborah Baldwin, Elizabeth Jenkins, and Janice Grant.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 27 at 1:30 PM at the Flomaton Church of Christ with a memorial service to follow immediately, Pete Davis officiating. A graveside service will be at 1:00 PM Monday, December 28th at the Stewart Family Cemetery in Ralph AL. Those wishing to attend the graveside service should meet at Robertson's Country Store, 17099 Ralph Loop Road, Ralph AL 35480 no later than 12:15 PM Monday afternoon. Due to the remote location of the cemetery, casual shoes and clothing are suggested.

Barbara was always so good to us. We loved the way she loved her family. I have a pretty silver sugar spoon she gave to us. She said I use our best table services for my family regularly. They are the most important people in my life and they deserve the best. I just loved Barbara.

I have , for so long now, & certainly will , miss , my friend - Ms Barbara !
She & I spent many hours - in the short 16 years we became friends , at my shop and in her flower gardens, talking , & sharing life stories....I'm Blessed to have known her !!

Years ago when Billy and I moved to Flomation, our sister Barbara gave me a silver sugar spoon. It has been a special reminder of a lady we have loved for all these years. We share your sorrow, and know she is in a better place.
