"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." -Psalms 30:5
Carrie Louise McDonald Adams went home to her Savior on Friday, September 18, 2009. Born September 21, 1927, Carrie grew up on a farm in southern Mississippi, married her great love, Ernest O. Adams, and lived in Navy towns across the U.S. before settling in Myrtle Grove in 1962, where she lived most of her life.
Carrie was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Adams; her parents, William H. and Louise McDonald; her brothers, John and Howard McDonald; as well as several in-laws.
She is survived by three children, Judy Sumlin and husband, Wayne, Steve Adams and wife, Adrienne, and Sandra Parmely and husband, Rev. Don Parmely. She also leaves behind four loving and loyal grandchildren, Vanessa Parmely, Nathan Parmely and wife, Amanda, Oliver Sumlin and wife, Lauren and Samuel Sumlin, as well as her sister, Lillie Barron of Hattiesburg, Mississippi and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carrie was unstinting in her devotion to God and to her family and will be remembered for singing hymns as she did her housework, good southern cooking, especially biscuits and flour gravy, her fondness for children, and the strong partnership she had with her husband.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Joyce Goldenberg Covenant Hospice, 10075 Hillview Avenue, Pensacola, FL 32514.
Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Laddie Pierce officiating. Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 100 Beverly Parkway, is in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 21 from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m.
