Charles R. Nance

1936-2012

Charles "Charlie" Robert Nance, age 76, passed away Wednesday December 19, 2012 at Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Reserve, LA. He was born February 22, 1936 to the late James Franklin and Violet Tracy Nance in Oklahoma. Charlie served 20 years in the U.S. Navy and retired as an E-6 Navy Aircraft Mechanic. After his military service he worked with civil service NARF as a supervisor. He also took numerous courses at Pensacola Junior College; air conditioning, auto body works as well as public speaking. Charles was a member of the VFW, Fleet Reserve, AmVets and the Elks Lodge.

Besides his parents Charlie is preceded in death by his wife, Virdie Lou Nance; brothers, Curtis Wayne Nance, Gail Eugene Nance, Jimmie Lee Nance, Eddie Don Nance, Rodney Earl Nance and Mickie Troy Nance; daughters, Benita Nance Pearson and Charlotte Nance.

He is survived by son, David Wayne Nance of Festus, MO; daughter, Ellen Ruth Nance of Anchorage, AK; step-children, Willie Ray (Rickie) of Milton, FL, Betty (Rex) Moles of Pace, FL, Juanette (Ben) Benigno of Baton Rouge, LA; brother, Bobbie Ray (Katherine) of Lawton, OK; sisters, Caroline Kitty Strange of Oklahoma, OK, Betty Ann Osborne of Fletcher, OK and Vickie Jo (Robert) of Eglin, OK; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchidren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Charlie enjoyed wood-working, gardening, doing small engine repair and he loved to fish. He had an even greater love for his country, family and friends.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at the War Veterans Home in Reserve, LA for the wonderful care they gave to Charlie. In lieu of flowers Charlie wished for donations to be made to the Gideons bible fund.

Funeral services will be Friday December 28, 2012 at the Chapel of National Cremation & Burial Society at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends Thursday December 27, 2012 from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at 1:15 PM with full military honors. National Cremation & Burial Society has been entrusted with the arrangments.
