Chester Smith Obituary
1967-2008Scott Smith was born June 16th, 1967 in Akron, Ohio. He passed from this life on May 9, 2008 as a result of a motorcycle accident. Scott was preceded in death by his beloved mother Sue Ashcraft Smith.
Scott is survived by his wife of 9 years (partner for 18), Joanne Smith and their children, Anthony Smith, Farin Roberts, Amy Roberts (Marshall Jenkins), Jason Dillie (Rebecca); his granddaughters, Alexa Cross (the apple of his eye) & Sera Dillie (who he will never get to spoil); his father, Chet Smith; sisters, Tracy Smith (niece & nephew, Gabby & Gage) and Jenny Harrison (nieces, Kayla & Kristen); aunt, Denese Taylor (Ron & Rachel). Scott was blessed to have in life very good friends, especially, Gregg Roughton and Scott Stewart, these were his "brothers".
He was a member of Ensley Church of the Nazarene and had his life in the hands of the Lord from an early age. He was an avid outdoorsman and shared that love with his son & friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gregg Roughton, Scott Stewart, Ron Taylor, Bill Tracy, Rusty LaCoste and Don Inge.
Friends & family will be welcomed for visitation at FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME NORTH, 1000 Hwy 29, Cantonment on Tuesday, May 13th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. There will be a memorial service immediately following.
Our family would like to extend our deepest thanks to the staff of both Sacred Heart & West Florida Hospitals as well as all of our friends & co-workers.

13 years have now passed & your memory lives on. Denese has passed on, Gabby is a wife & mother now. Lex is 21, going to college & working. Love you, miss you, think of you often. Thank you for the memories.

8 years have passed now & it still seems like yesterday. Each year I go to Thunderbeach & think of you. It was a marvelous trip, just you & me. You could make me laugh as no other. My life is good, Jesse is wonderful, you would approve (at least as much as you could have). Scott Stewart is a grandfather now, Alexa will be a senior this year. Denese is not doing well, her cancer seems to be winning. Time is moving along. I think of you daily, and miss you. Love,

Yesterday was 5 years to the day from your accident. It was Thunderbeach weekend, the new Harley dealership has finally opened and you would be impressed. Wayne has been in several times in the past few years to visit, we always talk about you, he still misses you. Tracy is doing pretty well, Gabby seems to be doing great, she is a beauty like her mother. Tony & I don't see each other, but he stays in touch with Farin & Amy through facebook & I think he is doing ok, I do know he misses you dearly. Denese & Ron have separated & divorce is just about final, Rachel will be 16 this year. Lex starts high school this fall. Time is flying by. I will see if I can't get some more pics of you posted out here & put something out on facebook to remind folks they can visit you here if they like. You brought much joy to my life & I miss you.

this May will be 5 years since ur passing and every day i am down and in the dumps i look back at the times we had as friends u always made me laugh that helps me thru the day i miss u my brother but i know in my heart that i will see u again one day. but until then i will never forget u because i am very thankful that u were my friend and my big brother thanks for the memories that i can cherish until my time to come home

Scotty, I did not write a message this year on the anniversary or even your birthday, but you know how close your are in my thoughts. Reading Wayne's comments made me realize I need to come here & visit. I hope you are watching over Anthony, he needs you more now than ever. Alexa just turned 13 years old & she is becoming a teenager in every sense of the word. You would be proud & want to kill her at the same time.We have 2 new ones, Sera (Jason's) and Emma (Farin's) that you would be having a ball with. I am very happy, yet I miss you too. Jesse is a person you would have wanted for me. He is totally unlike you, but that is good because there is no comparison to be made. I love him very much, but I love you still. Keep your eye on me & help guide me until my time comes.

Today is Scott's 44th birthday. I pray he has found peace & is at his Father's side. Scott was a man of faith & his faith has sustained me since his passing. He is in my thoughts daily. The man the Lord has brought into my life since Scott's passing is as different as Scott as day & night, which is as it should be. I have been a very fortunate person to have had the years together that Scott & I shared. It was a roller coaster, but never a dull momment. I love you & miss you.

Yesterday was a year since he's passed. It's so crazy how much things can be so different in just one year. This Mother's Day was definately a lot easier than last year's. Scott is mentioned so often in our everyday conversation, it's almost like he's just sitting there at the dinner table with us. Thank you to everyone who has helped my mom through this last year.

Today is the year anniversary of Scott's accident. This time last year he was watering property out on Highway 29 with Greg. He called me at 3:30 telling me he was getting ready to leave the property & head to school to pick Alexa up. It was a beautiful day & Greg was taking his first ride on Betty. It seems like yesterday but also forever ago. I think about life since his passing & wonder what he would have had to say about all that has happened since. I know some things he would be pleased with & some not quite so. He & I were as different as night & day, but we loved each other deeply. It kept us going strong for 18 years and looking forward to many more.

It's been over 4 months and it still doesn't seem real. Scott lived life to the fullest and had my amazing mother by his side. I can say one thing... in the 18 years he was in my life, there really wasn't many dull moments. Anyone who knew him could agree with that. He was "that guy" that everyone wanted to be friends with. I think it was the Gemini in him :) His memories are still very much with my family. You never know that you could miss someone's corny jokes until they aren't being told anymore. And my goodness did he have some... You are missed Chester :)

Scott's life reminds me of the song by Tim McGraw "Live Like You Were Dying" and that is what Scott did. He lived every day like it was his last. Way to go Scott!!! What a great guy.

My deepest regards go to Scott's family. He had a wonderful personality that I feel fortunate enough that I was able to experience first hand. I will regret not having the opportunity to enjoy a motorcycle ride with him as we had talked about on several occasions. He will surely be missed.
