James Bledsoe Obituary

JAMES PAUL BLEDSOE
1927 - 2010

Jim Bledsoe of Pensacola, FL, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2010; he was 82.
Jim was born in Salina, Kansas on July 9, 1927. He joined the Navy (shy of his 18th birthday) during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines. After the war, he went to college on the GI Bill and eventually earned his doctorate. He and his family moved to Pensacola in 1977, and he worked for two decades as an information specialist at various naval bases in the area, including Corry Station and NAS. After retirement, Jim began researching and writing a book expanding on his doctoral thesis; he was still working on the book at the time of his death.
His wife, Mary Wells Bledsoe, died in 1980. Jim is survived by his five children, Marita Bledsoe of Brighton, CO; John Bledsoe of Denver, CO; Ann Bledsoe of New York, NY; Susan Bledsoe Leon of Gainesville, FL; and Katie Bledsoe of Thornton, CO; and his three grandchildren.
Jim will be remembered at the 8:30 a.m. mass on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1700 Conway Drive, in Pensacola.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Vincent De Paul or another charity.
BAYVIEW FISHER-POU CHAPEL, 3351 Scenic Highway is in charge of arrangements.
