Jonathan Odom Obituary
1991-2012
Jonathan Odom went home on Wednesday, August 29, 2012. Jon was born and raised in Pensacola, FL. He attended Pine Forest High School and Pensacola Junior College. He was a member of St. Anne's Parish in Bellview.
Jon was an avid musician, playing multiple instruments, as well as, singing and songwriting. His favorite pastime was jammin with his band, "When Amber Sleeps".
Jon loved his job and was taking online courses so that he could someday become a tech with Nissan.
Jon was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bernie J. & Virginia M. White.
Jon is survived by his loving parents, Bruce A. and Patricia L. Odom; his loving birth mother, Virginia Odom; brother, Tray Odom; sisters: Christina B. Holland (Tommy Allen), Theresa Chastain (Kyle), Rebecca Lowery (Jay); nieces: Amanda Holland, Sarah Holland, Meagan Holland, Abigail Odom, Corinna Lowery; nephews: Alex Odom, Connor Odom, Justin Chastain, Tyler Chastain, Logan Lowery; aunts: Rebecca McKendrick (Johnny), Claudine Nelson (Jimmy); uncles: Bernie White (Pat), David Cain (Debbie), and numerous cousins and friends.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 3, 2012 from 6pm-8pm at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South.
Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 11:00am at St. Anne's Catholic Church with Father Licari officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be the band members of "When Amber Sleeps".
Pallbearers will be Jay Jarman, Justin Chastain, Brandon Cain, Logan Thompson, Casey Dickie, Brandon McKendrick and Michael Cain.

Jon was my vice in many situations. He was the motivation I needed daily. He was my best friend, and my love. I was his vice and motivation as well. Reading old messages, remembering old conversations... He let me know many times that I was one of the things that kept him going when things got rough. There's nothing I believe more than the fact that I WILL see him again, some day. The instant connection we had can't be broken by death. The friendship we had can't end with only one life time. We have an eternity of love and memories to share, and I intend to continue those memories with him some day, whenever that may be. His family and friends know that I am here for them, and I thank every last one of them, Bunky, Amanda, Jay, Patty, Bruce, and so many more, for being there for me in exchange. Jon can't be forgotten. His impact on everyone who ever had contact with him is eternal. I got the pleasure of being one of his best friends, and knowing him better than most. I meant so much to him, he confided in me, and he loved me; I hold onto that knowledge daily to keep me going until I see him again.

Jon, i am always going to miss you.. You were like my big brother at times and i always needed to come to you for advice and you were there to give it to me. I"ll miss you for the rest of my life, its hard to realize that whenever i go to my dads house, i won't be seeing you there anymore..but now your with all your rockstar idols, and all the circuits you"ll ever need on your bike. this won"t be the last time we ever see each other, cause good bye is permanent, and this isn"t goodbye, its just see you later. I guess heaven needed a new lead guitarist,

I'm grateful and proud to have known Jon, someone with an unusual amount of integrity, especially for his young age. May the life Jon lived here on earth continue to be a blessing to those of us whose hearts he touched. May his soul rest peacefully in the loving arms of Jesus, and may we look forward to being together forever on that wonderful day when the Lord calls us all Home.

Uncle Bruce, Aunt Patty & Family... I am so sorry and deeply saddened by this tragedy! I love you all. I am sorry my work schedule did not allow me to attend the visitation this evening, nor will I be able to attend in the morning as well. Jonathan will definately be missed. My heart is with you all & I will be keeping you in my thoughts & prayers.

I went to high school with Jon, but I never really hung out with him or got to know him until a few months ago. His best friend Amber Cooke introduced us, because he saw me one night and he told Amber "I really want to know her." For some reason, knowing that makes me really happy. For the short time we knew each other, he made such an impact on my life. He always knew how to cheer me up. He just had the right words, every time I was sad. He made me feel a a lot less lonely in this world. I am deeply heartbroken by this event, because we were just starting to become really great friends. He was certainly one of my favorite people. I will always cherish the few memories we have together, and I will never forget him. Rest in peace, Jon. I love you.

This is Mark Singleton, I am the step father of Micheal! I invited the band over to a cook out AND jON WAS SO INTO HIS MUSIC THAT HE played This picture does not do him justice... He was a pretty young man and had long pretty hair.. He looked like a Jesus pose!! Jon was a very prety young man

I'm Michael Cannon's mom. Michael was a good friend of John's and a fellow member of When Amber Sleeps. I remember when John use to come over to our house and he and Michael would jam on their guitars. John was so talented and a really sweet young man. I am so saddened by his tragic passing, and my thoughts and prayers are with the family and his many friends.
