Joshua Elder Obituary
1975-2008Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend. He is now playing music in God's Angel Band. He is with his Grandmother and Great Grandmother and they are holding him in their arms. At last he has he has some peace! No more pain, shaking and trouble. He was planning on attending Pensacola Jr. College in November and was trying to start a band with his friends. He was a dreamer, a loving son, he loved animals and he had a gentle heart. He will be missed by family and friends but he will never be forgotten. His memory will live on in all of our hearts. He had many dreams that he tried so hard to make a reality but life was just too hard for him and God wanted him to come home too soon for his family but right on time for him. He graduated from Tate High School in 1993 after the family moved from Tuscola, Illinois in 1980. He loved his two nieces Tara and Katie and had a special spot in his heart for Michael who shared his love for video games, bike riding and throwing the football in his Dad's yard.
He leaves his mother Cheryl Mae and father Mike with holes in their hearts but hope in their souls that he has found the peace he needed so desperately. He leaves his brother John who loved him and his Grandparents, Myron and Nola Pangburn. He leaves his Uncle Kenneth and Aunt Mary and their families. He leaves Marcia and Dewayne Cook and son as well as Tom and Susan Skinner and their sons. He leaves Mike and John Pangburn and their wives Linda and Diane and family. He leaves his special friends Adam, Kirk, Jeff and Drew and so many more that it hurts to write their names. He leaves all of these people to walk with the Lord. The family is sorry if anyone's name was left out but the list would be too large to print in one newspaper. Joshua leads the way for his family and friends and he will see them on that Shining Shore, arms reaching out, smiling and singing, "Oh That Circle Be Unbroken."
Funeral services will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North-Cantonment at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 17, 2008. He will be sent on his way to Heaven.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 16, 2008 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
Donations in Joshua's Memory can be made to The Humane Society, 5 North "Q" Street, Pensacola, Florida 32505. Flowers fade and die but his love of animals can help some animals, that he loved live.
Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, 1000 Highway 29 South Cantonment is in charge of arrangements.

It has been about 13 years since , we had so many plans. I come here from time to time, idk why I guess to keep telling myself this is a dream, a horrible dream. Well, it got worse , I found out that shorty joined you up there last year in 2019. I don't know what to think or say, both of my brother's are gone. Don't you two have too much fun without me. I love you my brother.

To our dear friends Eldo, Cheryl Mae, and John, As friends we have always shared our joys, and now we share your pain. We have all grown wiser with age, and it is with hearts of sorrow that we will take Josh to Hugo. But knowing that God's plan is way better than our dreams on earth could ever be, Josh is doing just great now. We look forward someday to hearing him play for us in Heaven, and hearing God tell everyone, this is Josh, my child........... I'm pleased.

I am so sorry for the untimely death of Joshua. I did not know him, but I know from experience how devastating it is to lose a loved one, especially in the prime of his life. Josh was one of the most caring people I have ever met, he was a wonderful friend that will truly be missed. I have many fond memories of long nights and long conversations with Josh. He was always wiling to listen and help with any complications that life may have put before me. i know that Josh is at peace now and not subject to any of those complications that we discussed on those late nights so long ago. Josh I will remember you with a song in my heart and a tear in my eye. Godspeed brother.

Josh Elder accepted me as a friend in some of the hardests times in my life. What can I say after being out of touch for ten years because of military service? Josh always was (and is) a true person and genuine soul. My memories of him have not and will never fade. Josh Elder represented the beautiful side of humanity. I only wish I could have expressed that to him more recently. I look forward to seeing him again.

I CAN ONLY TELL YOU WHAT JOSH MEANT TO ME.WE MET AT VERY SPEACIAL AND PIVITOL TIME IN OUR LIVES,WHEN EVERYTHING WAS NEW AND EXCITING(GIRLS,MUSIC,HIGHSCHOOL,GOING OUT ON THE WEEKENDS) AND THE WHOLE WORLD WAS WONDROUS TO US(WELL THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF CHEMSTRAND ROAD ANYWAY).WE WOULD CAMP OUT IN THE WOODS WITH FRIENDS(ONLY 800FT+- FROM YOUR HOUSE)AND TALK AND LAUGH THE NIGHT AWAY AND WAKE UP SORE AS HELL FROM SLEEPING ON THE GROUND.JOHN WAS THE COOLEST THING BACK THEN CAUSE HE WAS OLDER ACTUALLY HAD REAL GIRLFRIENDS AND COULD DRIVE.JOSH WAS ALWAYS KINDHEATED AND I PICKED AT HIM FOR THAT( I WAS ALWAYS MEAN-SPIRITED)BUT EVERY NOW AND THEN JOSH WOULD SAY SOMETHING...SOMETHING PROFOUND AND I WOULD WANT TO CHANGE AND I WOULD FELL ASHAMED.THATS POWERFUL AND JUST A GREAT QUALITY JOSH HAD.I REMEMBER JOSH'S FIRST LOVE KERRY FETNER AND BEING SO HAPPY FOR HIM CAUSE HE DISERVED IT(SHE WAS A TROPHY). JOSH COULD ALWAYS MAKE ME LAUGH.I REMEMBER JOSH TWISTING HIS KNEE FROM KICKING AN OAK TREE IN 88, THAT WAS HIS STORY ANYWAY.HE WORE A BRACE FOREVER.I REMEMBER AT THE BUS STOP(IT WAS HALLOWEEN)AND JOSH HAD A SILVER STRIPE IN HIS HAIR,IT WAS GOOFY,I ASKED HIM WHAT THE HELL HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AND HE SAID I'M STRYPER.WELL STRYPER WAS A CHRISTIAN HEAVY METAL BAND AND I THOUGHT THAT WAS THE FUNNIEST THING.JOSH AND I HAVE BUMPED IN TO EACH OTHER OVER THE YEARS AND IT WAS LIKE WE DIDN'T MISS A BEAT.I'M MARRIED NOW WITH 4 KIDS AND I WISH THEY COULD HAVE MET JOSH.JOSH WILL ALWAYS HOLD A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART,HE WAS THERE IN 87 WHEN WE STARTED TO LIVE AND KNOWING HIM CHANGED ME FOR THE BETTER. Josh... I haven't seen him in almost eight years. I'm so sorry and sad to hear about this. He was such a "cool cat" and always had room in his heart for others' needs... sometimes despite his own. I never forgot... and I will never forget.

Dear Family of Josh,
So sorry for your loss and I'm sure he will be missed. Though I only knew him briefly at the wonderful Thanksgiving celebrations at his Aunt Mary and Uncle Ken's, I will remember his cheerful outlook on life. God bless all of you. Hugs from Peggy. Sorry I won't be able to make it to the funeral.

to the family of Joshua, i do not know you but my heart breaks for you, i am the mother of a young 31 year old daughter who was found dead on the side of the road by a hit and run driver almost 1 year ago, so i know your pain, it will feel as though life has stopped, but trust me if you trust in god which i see you do, you will get through this sad time. my thoughts and prayer are with you. you must go 1 day at a time, god bless you
