Max Mott Obituary
1938-2013
Max W. Mott "Papa Max", 74, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 17, 2013. He was a native of Selma, AL but was a long-time resident of Pensacola and graduated from Pensacola High School. He retired from Monsanto after 38 years as a mechanic. Max was a faithful member of East Brent Baptist Church and had served as a Deacon. One of his greatest joys came from serving as the design leader of the ramp building with the senior emergency response team. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and brother. His love of camping allowed him to make new friends throughout the United States and to tell others about Jesus. Max won his battle against cancer and he wanted everyone to know that God cured him. He never met a stranger and could have a conversation with anyone. Rather than hiring someone to fix something he always could figure it out himself and could diagnose a vehicle problem over the phone. Max was an honest, respectful and trustworthy man.
Max was preceded in death by his parents, A.Z. Miller Mott and Blanche Mott; son, Max W. Mott, Jr.; brother, Wilbur Eugene Mott; and his loving in-laws, Clifton Sr. and Ethel Odom.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Betty Joyce Mott; son Douglas (Kathy) Mott; daughter, Pam (Ricky) Lemons; grandchildren: Tasha (Robbie) McLaney; Zac (Kayla) Mott; Cody (Erin) Lemons; Caleb Lemons and Chase Lemons: great-grandchildren: Jax McLaney, Kenzy McLaney, Mattie McLaney and Xander Mott; loving sister, Sara (Joe) Acreman; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East Brent Baptist Church, 4801 East Brent Baptist Church, Pensacola, FL 32503.
The family will receive friends Saturday, July 20, 2013 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service at East Brent Baptist Church. Brother Dale Patterson will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Chuck Bragg's Sunday School Class. The family has entrusted Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with funeral arrangements.
