Megan Selland Obituary

Megan Christen Selland

Pensacola, FL - Megan Christen Selland age 33 of Pensacola Florida, passed away on January 8, 2018. Megan was born June 7, 1984 to Ann and David Selland. Megan gave our family so much. Unconditional love, laughter, antics, and direction. Megan never met a stranger. She gave her love and compassion to all who knew her. Her many aunts and uncles, her community family: Bea Thomas, Mrs. Hahn, Jade Estes, ESE staff in Escambia County, Westgate teachers and staff, Pyramid teachers and staff both in Pensacola and in Tallahassee, Tallahassee Developmental Center staff, and countless others, all had a part in raising Megan. It truly took a village.

She loved to be outside with a ball or Frisbee, she loved long walks, swimming in the pool, and twisting her bags, but most of all she loved to be with friends and family. She could wear a person out with her endless energy and was always ready to go. All who knew her are better for it.

She is survived by her parents, Ann and David Selland, Ann's fiancé Bob McCormick, her brothers and their spouses, Michael Selland and Megan Jones, Matthew and Jessica Selland, and Marshall and Hannah Selland. One grandmother Gerri Selland. 3 nieces and 3 nephews: Maddy, Miller, Maleah, Cooper, Max and Melanie and numerous aunts and uncles.

At 11:00 am January 20th, a mass will be said for Megan at St. John Evangelical Church. 303 South Navy Blvd. Pensacola Fl 32507. A celebration of life will follow the mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Escambia Westgate 10050 Ashton Brosnaham Dr, Pensacola, FL 32534 or ARC Gateway 1000 S Fairfield Dr, Pensacola, FL 32506

Dearest Dearest Ann, you have been praying on my mind for several days. I am so sorry for your loss. It's unimaginal losing a child and she was so very special. It's funny the things that you remember. I do remember the twirling of grocery bags but l laugh now even to myself how she would walk by you and whack you on the back. You would see her coming and think she by passed you., then WHACK! She got you. Funnier when she did it to someone else. She was sly. Just thinking about it brings a big smile to my face. She will be terribly missed but I know she is in heaven with your mom, dad and her cousin . Again, my prayers and thoughts are with you. Charlie Brown

Hi Ann! I am sorry for your loss. I'm sure St. Peter is telling Megan, "Now Megan, you have a choice...Flutes or trumpets...which one will you play?" And Megan will just laugh! She was a joy in class and a challenge; and you were always a supportive mother! God bless you and keep you!

I am so sorry Ann. Megan was an angel on earth. Antics? Yup she had them. From one extreme to the other but, they were the best. I hear her giggle and see her beautiful smile. We were all blessed to have her in our lives. The world was a better place with Megan in it. Now she's in heaven running thru the field and giggling, experiencing her soul at the fullest. I love you and I know Joe and Megan are having their talk.
