Robert Francis Kucala, 71, of Pensacola, FL passed away Friday, August 12, 2011.
Robert was born in St Cloud, MN on January 4, 1940. He retired honorably from the US Navy after 30 years (Jun 1957 - Jan 1987) achieving the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer (CTOCM).
He is preceded in death by parents, John and Delphine Kucala and twin brother, Richard Kucala and sister, Teresa Kucala.
Survivors include the mother of his children, Maureen T. Kucala of Pensacola; sons, Vincent (Becky) of Stafford, VA and Sean (Beata)of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren, Christopher, Timothy, Kaitlin, Gabe and Noah; brother, David Kucala of St. Cloud, MN and sister, Bernadette Peters of Brainerd, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30am Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Fr. Peter McLaughlin celebrant. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
HARPER-MORRIS MEMORIAL CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements.

Dear Kucala Family: I didn't hear about Bob's passing until November but was very sorry to hear it. My prayers and sincere condolences go out to you and your family. Bob was instrumental in helping me make Chief and was a mentor to me.

Words alone are simply inadequate to express the depth of my profound sadness and sense of loss after hearing CTOCM Kucala passed on. I had the honor and privilege of serving with him at the NAVSECGRUDET Kamiseya, Japan. Although I am far away from Pensacola Florida Maureen, please know that I quietly grieve with you and your family over the passing of a exceptionally wonderful and gifted human being. He was my mentor, and will always be my friend. I will miss him dearly. Rest in Peace Master Chief. Sayonara is not goodbye, but a promise to meet again.

Mrs. Kucala - I served with your husband in Kami Seya from 78-80 and met you a few times. I wanted to express my condolence on his passing. I retired as a Master Chief because of your husband's mentoring and guidance. I modeled my career after Bob's and while I've met some fine CPOs through the years, I can truthfully say that no one had the enduring impact on me that Bob had. I am terribly sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
