Ruth Toepfer Obituary

Ruth N. Toepfer

1915 - 2013

Ruth Nadine Toepfer passed away July 25, 2013. She was born (and educated) in Monroe, WI to Henry and Minnie Leuzinger, natives of Nafell and Canton, Switzerland. Upon her marriage to Albert, they became a farming family in the Pearl City and Freeport, IL area. They moved to Tavares, FL in 1959, where she was a Certified Cosmetologist for the next 14 yrs. In 1973, they moved to Pensacola to be near other family members. They were faithful members of Ferry Pass UMC, and Ruth was a member for over 35 years. She served as President of the Golden Agers Group where she was "special" guest speaker at many functions. Ruth was most proud of her 5 sons; all of whom served in the Army, Navy, or Marines. She was extremely patriotic and flew the American flag at home everyday until illness prevented it.

Ruth will be remembered for her ready smile, wit and humor, and her love for flowers and nature. Her compassion and generosity toward others will be missed by all whose lives she touched.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Albert, eleven of her siblings (she being the last survivor), her son, Robert of Stoughton, WI; her son, Edward of IA, and daughter, Myrna Lee Tracy of Tampa, FL.

She is survived by her son, Ronald (Jane) Toepfer of Apple River, IL; daughter-in-law, Inez Toepfer of Stoughton, WI; son, Wayne (Jeanne) of Rockford, IL and son, Allan (Diane) Toepfer of Pensacola. Ruth also leaves 23 beautiful grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren, so many nieces and nephews and oh so many friends, all of whom she cherished and loved with all of her heart.

Visitation will be held Sat, Aug 3, 2013 at 10:00 am at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with Memorial Service directly following at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel 3351 Scenic Hwy, Pensacola, has been entrusted with arrangements.

I loved the times we were able to come & see Aunt Ruth and she would play her guitar and sing & yodel. She was truly a special lady. Loved her lots.

Our deepest Sympathy to all of you, Ruth was always smiling and such a pleasure to talk to. I had the opportunity to chat with her at family reunions and on the telephone a number of times. Aunt Ruth was sharp and full of life. She will be greatly missed by all. Playing instruments, cards and saying Trump!!! thats what they are doing together now.

I remember staying with my Grandma Sadie and listening to tape recordings of Ruth singing and playing guitar. I was fortunate enough to stop and visit with Ruth a few years back. She was such a classy lady. It was a joy to reminisce with her. I bet all of the siblings are having fun playing music together. Julie Blumer

We all love you (family) and say a prayer for you. She was quite a lady and could cook up a storm, raise flowers, and keep a beautiful home. She was so special.

I'll always remember Aunt Ruth and the cool aunt who lived in Florida. Since most of the aunts and uncles all lived in Wisconsin, I always thought she was pretty special.
