Douglas Dane Sebastian went home to heaven Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, from COVID pneumonia. Born Oct. 7, 1951, in Indianapolis to Betty and Leo Sebastian, Doug moved to Miami County as a teen and graduated from Maconaquah HS. He had many amazing experiences in his lifetime, but his life work was creating and growing the national nonprofit KinderVision Foundation, a recognized charity of Major League Baseball dedicated to protecting children and teens from harm.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 30 years, Nancy (Smith), children Lindsay Ty (Ryan) and Zachary Sebastian (Jamie), stepchildren Tami Speth, Troy Tomson (Angela), and Katie Hamel (Mike), six grandchildren (Kalyssa, Payton, Nevaeh, Hailey, Drew, and Cole), and sisters Lisa Riggle (Willie) and Tara Meyerink (Robert). Doug loved walking the beach with his wife, fishing with his grandchildren, playing sports in the backyard, and cheering on the Yankees and the Broncos.
A Celebration of Life was held in Huntington Beach, CA, with eulogies from Rollie Fingers, MLB Hall of Fame; Dennis Kuhl, CEO of the Anaheim Angels; OC CA Sheriff Don Barnes; and Michael Reagan, son of President Reagan. Doug was a man of unquenchable faith with a huge heart and boundless energy for doing good. Personally, everyone he met was enriched by knowing him. Professionally, millions of youth will be safer because of him.
