Bill Anders Obituary

PICKENS — William Perry Anders Sr., 83, husband of Mary Jo Haskett Anders, passed from this life on Tuesday evening, October 18, 2016.

Mr. Anders was born in Cleveland, S.C., a son of the late Bunyan William and Sara Ettie Gilstrap Anders. He was retired from Roadway Express following 38 years of service and he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Anders was also member of American Legion Post 11 in Pickens.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Jo Anders of the home; sons, William P. Anders Jr. of the home, T. Yancey Anders (Marie) of Dacusville, and S. Brent Anders (Gina) of Pickens. Grandchildren include Grayson, Parker, Savanah, Evan, Kalyn, and Adrienne Anders. Mr. Anders is also survived by a sister, Ann A. Maddox (Heyward) of Cleveland, S.C.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Anders was preceded in death by three brothers, J. C. Anders, T. C. Anders, and Edward Anders, and a sister Mary Lee Merritt.

The family received friends Friday, October 21, 2016 at Holly Springs Baptist Church from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Funeral services followed at 3 p.m. with burial in the church cemetery.
