Carol Marsh Obituary

SIMPSONVILLE — Carol Ann Pennington Marsh of Sunset, Pickens and Simpsonville, S.C., peacefully entered eternal rest on June 9, 2022. Born in Portland, Oregon, a daughter of the late Charles William and Marion Grace Ellsworth Pennington, Mrs. Marsh attended the University of Connecticut and Merrill Business School and was a long time member of Pickens Presbyterian Church.

Carol was a great mother/grandmother/great grandmother (Gigi) who trained her family well in the art of having fun, enjoying life and each other. She had an adventurous nature which she spread to all her children, enjoying travelling, camping, swimming, gardening and the outdoors. She loved dogs - and dogs loved her.

Surviving are three daughters, Lisa Buurman (Robert) of Simpsonville; Terrill Byrd (James) of Gainesville, Fla.; Amy Burnes of Simpsonville, S.C., and Portsmouth, R.I.; and a son, Bill Marsh (Trudy) of Cumming, Ga.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Marsh was predeceased by her husband of more than 56 years, Charlie Marsh; by a sister, Nancy Cobban, and a brother, William Pennington.

Carol placed high importance in her church, her family and many friends. She never knew a stranger and was always helpful and caring. She was much loved and will be greatly missed. Her smile, mischievous independence and twinkling eyes will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Memorial services will be at Pickens Presbyterian Church, Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greenville Humane Society. Condolences may be expressed online at www.robinsonfuneralhomes.com.
