Vaughn Mitchell Obituary

EASLEY — Vaughn Edward Mitchell, Sr., 80, of Easley, S.C., peacefully slipped away on February 15, 2022, to join his life-long valentine. He had been briefly hospitalized at Prisma Health Baptist Easley Hospital.

Born Nov. 30, 1941, in Rosman, N.C., he was the son of the late Elmer and Jewell Waldrop Mitchell. Vaughn was a proud Rosman Tiger, YRC Worldwide Inc (formerly Roadway Corporation) retiree, and member of Fairview Methodist Church in Easley, S.C.

Preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and wife of 54 years, Patricia Bryant Mitchell of Brevard, N.C., and Easley, S.C.; a brother, Charles William "Bud" Mitchell of Calhoun, Ga.; and a sister, Betty Mitchell Stewart of Florida.

He is survived by a sister, Margaret Mitchell Galloway (R.C.) of Hendersonville, N.C.; a daughter, Laura Mitchell Lewis of Greenville, S.C.; a son, Vaughn Mitchell, Jr. (Ellen) of Mauldin, S.C.; grandchildren Alex Lewis, Morgan Hutto Phillips (Craig), Katrina Hutto, and Cody Mitchell (Savannah); as well as great-grandchildren Aaliyah, Connor, Kara, Colin, and Manuela.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. on March 12, 2022, at Brevard Wesleyan Church in Brevard, N.C. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pickens County Meals on Wheels.
