Aaron Filer Obituary

Aaron L. Filer
Portsmouth - Aaron Luke Filer, born April 5, 1972, passed away June 5, 2012. Aaron graduated from Alliance Christian in 1991. As a teenager, Aaron loved to play soccer with his brothers, both in school and on the Cradock Recreation League. After high school, he went through the apprenticeship to become an electrician at NADEP, Norfolk, Virginia, until he was transferred to Cherry Point Marine Base, Cherry Point, North Carolina. He returned to Virginia, where he became employed at McLean Contracting company as a deck hand, went on to become an electrician, and then an engineer. His most recent job was as an electrician's apprentice at Norfolk Southern Railroad.
Aaron was a very kind hearted person, always there when you needed a friend. He became very close to his roommate's son, Dustin Clayton. When Dustin and his wife, Kate, had a daughter last October, Aaron developed a special bond with Aubrey Clayton. He loved that little girl as if she were his own.
Aaron leaves behind his parents, Ray and Loretta Filer; his brothers and sisters, Alan and Annette Filer, Danny and Amy Filer, Ruth and Gary Vaughan, Bill Davis, David and Tami Davis, Robbie Davis; his nephews and niece, Matthew Filer and Andrew Filer, DJ Filer and Cory Filer, Erica Canfield and Brian Davis; grandniece, Madalyn Canfield and grandnephew, Xander Canfield. Aaron had many aunts, uncles and cousins who were very special to him. Rest in peace, our dearest Aaron.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Biltmore Baptist Church, with Pastor Frye officiating. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.snellingsfuneralhome.com.

Absence can be so hard. We keep you in our thoughts and prayers too often. It's hard to imagine that little freckle faced Aaron was taken at such a young age. We know the Lord and prayers will stay with you and your family forever. In our Prayer, Tom and Pat

To the family; We were sorry to hear of Aaron's passing. There was a group of us who were transferred to Cherry Point with Aaron from NADEP Norfolk. He was a good person and he will be missed by his fellow apprentice graduates.
