Aaron Vinik Obituary
Dr. Vinik authored 11 books, 140 chapters and published over 600 peer reviewed research articles in major scientific periodicals. Arthur, as he was often called, remains beloved of the staff and patients of the Diabetes Institutes and in fact, worldwide. He is remembered fondly by hundreds of physicians, and students who enjoyed his tutelage as a mentor as well as his engaging personality and sense of humor at EVMS and previously the University of Michigan.
Dr. Vinik is survived by his wife of 64 years Etta Johanna Vinik, sons Howard Vinik, Dr. Bryan Vinik and Steven Vinik, brothers Dr. Ronald Vinik, Morris Vinik and sister Gloria Hoff, daughter in law, Robin Vinik, sisters in law, Sandra Vinik, Bernice Vinik grandchildren Natasha Vinik, Sean Vinik, Hannah Vinik, and Sammy Vinik.
A graveside service will be conducted 1:00p.m. Sunday June 18, 2023 at Princess Anne Memorial Park in Virginia Beach. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.hdoliver.com

Although it's been nearly two years since his passing, it seems like yesterday that Aaron and I attended a neuroendocrine tumor guidelines committee meeting at which we shared memorable moments together. His demeanor and intellect are forever imbedded in my mind. May his memory be a blessing.

DR Vinik was the most outstanding doctor I have ever dealt with. He was so understanding and listened to what ever you had to say. Normally I do not enjoy going to DR´s offices, but I enjoyed seeing DR Vinik. A real caring human being. The Lord has gained a new Angel and the human race has lost one. You most definitely will be missed for being the great person you were. God Bless.

Hello Etta, I am not sure if you will remember me. I am Donna Calvani and I had the distinct pleasure of working with Arthur while I was working in the field of medical education, specifically diabetic neuropathy. You, he and I shared several wonderful meals together. I am very sad to read of his passing. He was a wonderful, brilliant, caring man! My deepest sympathy to you and your family.

In the short time I knew him and although he had trouble communicating I felt I was in the presence of an extraordinary human being. Dr.Vinik was a genius and a brilliant physician who has touched the lives of so many patients worldwide. He was an amazing mentor whose clinic was one of the most amazing experiences for me at EVMS. How do I honor the man who saved my life? Arthur was an incredible man and doctor who truly saved me from dying years ago. His images and memories of how he did so many things more than most will be with me forever.
I loved how he taught people to really do `latin dancing´ at Ruthie Tavass restaurant. He never stopped smiling & laughing.
Arthur will remain in my heart forever ....
