The Paines lived across the street from us in Waukegan, IL for many years before moving to Virginia. Pete and Debbie were the most generous neighbors and my family and I watched their children grow up. Adam was a joy to know. I'll always remember the time he took his grandma Hazel on a "date". He was a kind and thoughtful boy who grew into a kind and thoughtful man. It is so sad for all who knew him that God called him home so soon, but our loss is Heaven's gain. On behalf of myself and the Machak family, our deepest sympathy to the Paine and Davis families. Rest in peace, Adam.

The Paines lived across the street from us in Waukegan, IL for many years before moving to Virginia. They were the most wonderful and generous neighbors and Adam was a joy to know. I will never forget how as a young boy he planned a "date" for himself and his grandmother. He was a kind and thoughtful child who grew into a kind and thoughtful man. It is too bad for us that God called him home so soon, but our loss is heaven's gain. On behalf of myself and the rest of the Machak family, please accept our deepest sympathy. Rest in peace, Adam.

I never had the honor of meeting Adam, but from what his friends say about him, he was a wonderful human being. My heart hurts for you Pete and Debbie. I'm so sorry for your unimaginable loss.

Adam was the kindest person I have ever known. He made everyone he met feel important. He also was a brilliant improviser and teacher. Adam was the teaching assistant in several classes I took at the Push Comedy Theater and co-taught an excellent class I was in last year. The memorial service was a perfect tribute to Adam with so much love in the room for him, his family and his community. My deepest condolences go to the Paine family.

I grew up at Christian Fellowship church in Waukegan, Illinois as a child. I grew up knowing Adam. The Paine and Davis family was very loving and kind and there for me and my family when we lost a loved one or was down. They were there to pick us up. We all had things in common, God's unfailing love, love for Him, and love for others. We are brothers and sisters in Christ!!! If we dont see each other again on earth, we will see each in Heaven. I want to see my brothers and sisters in Christ one day and rejoice! My family and I would like to be there for you, like you were there for us. We need to love one another to show God is True and He is Love. We will always love Adam, and the whole family for eternity. We are all truly one family in God!

Pete and Debbie, my heart aches for you in the loss of your amazing son Adam. The tributes show what an inspiration he was to people everywhere. May you find comfort knowing he is with God in Heaven with all of our wonderful parents, grandparents, aunts & uncles, cousins and babies. What a reunion that must be

Dear Paine Family,
My name is Katie Ruckel and I went to ODU with some of the original Pushers and met Adam through our mutual friends.
I moved back to the area last year and have seen Adam a handful of times at the Push and in Norfolk. Hes always so welcoming and kind. We both grew up pastors kids and bonded over the mutual experience. Also, we bonded over the fact that the theater people were our people too.
Adam was a sweet light in the darkness and an anchor in a storm. I was talking to a mutual friend and we both agreed that if someone embodied Jesus in the lives of others he did. He was accepting loving and kind. He marveled at differences but discouraged division.
I saw a few shows he was in and he was always giving funny and smart. My last conversation with him was after the Norfolk comedy festival and I encouraged him after his performance. He was wondering if the guest performers were comfortable with something he did on stage... not the accolade not that it worked but that they felt good.
Adam was close friends with my friends. He provided support, joy, advice and comfort. I appreciated his presence and giving nature. He is leaving a huge hole.
My prayers are for all those close to him to find comfort and be more tangibly aware that Adam loved because Jesus first loved him. That his life becomes an enduring legacy that spurs them into knowing that you can depend on God to come and be present in a time of need. Im praying for miraculous peace and the ministry of the Holy Spirit as we echo the groaning of our prayers too deep for words.
God bless you and heal you. Im so sorry for your loss.

The first time I met Adam was at Mark & Christines wedding. He did some of his comedy that night and when they pasted an offering around for Mark & Christine I remember his commenting on what we should give. It was great. Comedy was what made Adam, Adam. He always had a great smile and always ready to made people laugh. Adam was easy to talk to and loving. We will miss you Adam but we will never forget you, and we will see you again. Your with us in spirit always. God bless this family and wrap your arms around them.
Love always Sam & Debe Sanders

Adam was always a happy and expressive person.. I do remember the time we had on the football field and basketball court, beating the staff countless times. I am thankful for the many late night dinners we shared in fellowship and sharing jokes and conversations. I seen him grow up from little man playing in the boxes at the office and beating the drums during church service to the man he became. He will be greatly missed but not forgotten. Love you Adam, Joseph, aka PJ.

Adam was one of the kindest souls I've ever been so lucky to know. He was an amazing mentor when I took classes at Push Comedy Theater, and was incredibly generous through both his words and actions. He truly lit up the stage and I was always in awe watching him perform. His light shone so brightly, and his infectious smile is one I will never forget. Rest in peace sweet, loving soul, Adam. You will be missed by more people than you'll ever know. Prayers to your family.
