Alfred Clark Obituary

Alfred Ray Clark

Virginia Beach - Alfred (Al) Ray Clark passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 23, 2015 due to complications stemming from a heart condition. Born in Crockett, Texas, Al was the beloved stepson of Gerald Plachy and the son of the late Jimmie Sue Mosier Plachy, and the son of Robert "Bob" Clark.

Al was a highly decorated Navy SEAL and marksman, co-founder of Blackwater Training Center, and several other successful companies and most recently, Al developed Colonial Tactical Training in a collaborative partnership with Colonial Shooting Academy. Al deeply valued his son Duncan and his business associate Skyler Thomas as integral forces that would ensure his important business legacy will live on and thrive. Al was also a major in?uence in the ?rearms and professional ?rearms training industry. Although a man of many accomplishments in and out of the military, Al's most treasured role was that of a loving husband and father.

Al is survived by his wife, Valerie (Val) Elaine, his daughters Madison Elaine and Cameron Michelle, his son Duncan Alexander - all of Virginia Beach; his sisters Jeanne Webb of St. Angelo, Texas and Judy Crain of Kemp, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Al will be held on Monday, June 1, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., 2002 Laskin Road in Virginia Beach. A gathering at the family home will be held directly after the service.

Ok so my Brothers friend and my major crush, I loved watching you play the drums in High School- eventually, you became another older Brother telling my Dad things I was doing wrong and catching me with Boys and skipping school. I miss those days- and Stephanie too! She was like an older Sister. Cherished Memories- not forgotten.

Alfred was one of my students at Kaufman High School in 1977 when he was a sophomore, I believe. He was a remarkable young man, friendly, helpful, responsible, with goals and ambitions that few young men his age had. I knew he would have great success in his life. Kaufman High School just inducted three people in the sports hall of fame. I am going to nominate him for next year's hall of fame induction for posthumous recognition. I think Alfred played football one year, but I don't know whether he played two years, which is a requirement. He really deserves the recognition from his school. If this message gets to his surviving family members, please contact me so that I might fill out the forms for his nomination. I know he has been recognized for his accomplishments in the SEALS, but I would like to have him remembered here. When I taught Alfred, I knew his mother and my name was Rosemary Wilkie. My husband died in 1979, and I married Jack LeFlore in 1983. My address is 8348 Fm 2860, Kaufman, Texas 75142. My email is [email protected]. I didn't know until recently that he and his mother had died. I am so sorry that has happened.

So many warm summer nights, you & Jon & Stephanie, laid on the boat dock at our ranch and dreamed of your futures. You and Jon crawled in your camouflage outfits to the dining room window and scared the daylights out of me! Out of all the local young men who tried to become Navy Seals, you were the only one to achieve that.
I was so proud of you!

Stephanie died at age 50, just two years after you, and I know that you two are friends again where you are now. She cried for days after you died, because you were so special to her.

You and Jon had difficult times growing up, but you never let that affect your attitude.

Alfred, you were so special and so caring. I am proud to have known you.

Although I had not spoken with Al in some time; he was a Teammate, mentor, my business partner and my best friend for many years. He was one of the best firearms instructors I ever knew. He will be missed by many. My deepest sympathies to the entire Clark family, especially his children.
