Alice Spruill Obituary

Alice Thomson Spruill CHESAPEAKE - Alice Thomson Spruill was born in Princess Anne County and passed away at her home July 5, 2011 at age 97. She was the daughter of Robert and Janet Thomson. She was predeceased by her husband, Preston and oldest daughter and husband, Gwen and Bud Lawrence. She was a member of Lynnhaven Presbyterian Church. She worked for her brother at Radio Parts Distributing and she and her husband ran Spruill's Apartments located at Thalia on Virginia Beach Blvd. She is survived by her son, Preston Spruill Jr. and wife Ruth of Enfield, Conn.; and her daughter, Janet Schmitt and husband Lou of Chesapeake; her sister, Margaret Hillers of Norfolk; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, with the Rev. Scottie Griffin officiating. The burial will follow in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lynnhaven Presbyterian Church.
