I only just found out about AJ today. While we knew he'd been sick, we didn't know the details or that he had passed. We dealt with Rudd's Auto Parts for years, getting difficult-to-find parts a lot: if no one else could track them down, AJ could. I can still hear him in my head answering the phone, "AJ's Auto Parts". We're really going to miss him.

My wife and I had moved over to Suffolk from Hampton about 3 years ago, and became neighbors with Jason and A.J. both. A.J. would always wave when he went down to Jason's house which is across from ours, and mow his lawn. Although we never met personally, I have spoken with Jason and his wife several times down by the Nansemond River evenings while out riding in our UTVs. Jason, I am sorry for your loss brother. My wife and I are here for you if you need to talk. We just lost her mother down in Rockingham, N.C. at the end of last year, and this was our last surviving parent. Life always has to go full circle, and your father is always watching over you, and now with no pain. Prayers to you and Jennifer, and to your entire family.

AJ will be missed by many! My thoughts & prayers go to all the family in their time of loss. Know he has gone to a better place, with no suffering or pain. Our history goes back decades to the time his father & mine raced together. From there to the salvage yard for MORE years, and AJ was always there to help! I miss him, too, and he will always be my GOOD friend!

AJ Rudd was a good man. He helped a lot of people in his lifetime. He helped my father many times over the years. He helped me numerous times. And he has helped my brother, Cliff, since they both were teenagers. I am a better man for knowing him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Cheryl, Jason, Chris and all of their families

I was so sorry to hear of AJ's passing, my condolences to the entire family. I have known them my entire life & have such wonderful memories of so many times being at the yard with my dad to visit with Mr. Rudd, AJ, & Ricky. One memory that comes to mind is when I took my daughter up there when she was a baby to meet them & AJ picking on me telling me I was old now & I told him to just remember that he had known me since I was that age & him & his dad just laughing. AJ always had a smile & was always so patiently helpful when I would call & bug him looking for car parts. The whole family is in my thoughts, sending love.

To the entire Rudd family, I am sorry to hear of the loss of Alvin.
Ricky, as a NASCAR fan and a loyal fan of yours during your long career, I am saddened for your loss. I speak for myself, but strongly feel, that all NASCAR fans will be praying for your family during this time of loss. You probably don't remember me, but during a Ford Fan event at the Richmond Coliseum, I gave you a photo montage I made showing you with all your race cars from your career and then later gave you a condolence card prior to the Richmond Race just after your father passed. Growing up in Norfolk, I spent many a day crawling around old the cars looking for parts for my cars at Rudd Auto parts. Your dad and brother were always nice to me and always made me feel welcomed.
To all of the Rudd family, Alvin may no longer be here with you physically, but feel comforted, because he is now in a place of peace with no more suffering, no sorrow or pain. I believe he is looking down on everyone with a smile and saying, what a great family I have. Always remember, he will forever be with you in your hearts and memories.
