Andrew H, Gray, Jr.

Chesapeake - Andrew H. Gray, 77, passed away on January 27, 2018. He was born to late Andrew H. and Catherine E Gray, Sr. Andrew was a graduate of Crestwood High in 1958. He received his Bachelor of Education from Norfolk State University and Master of Science in Education from Old Dominion University. Andrew retired as a School Administrator from Chesapeake Public School System after 38 years. He was a member of Sinai Baptist Church. He was survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Dorothy M. Gray; Daughters, Alvera Davis, Carlotta Gray-Cuffee (Russell), Cherl-lynn Hyater (Keith), Anita Gray (Alfred); Sons, Andrew H. Gray III and Bobby D. Gray (Deborah); Sister, Nelda Sims; Brothers, William T. Gray, Sr., Marvin A. Gray and Alvin Gray; Grandchildren, Harry Jr., Bobby Jr., Shaune, JaVaughn, Siobhan, Chelsey, Justen, Christopher, Jhordan, Robert and Donovan; Great-grandchildren, Nyla, Kameron, Malena, Isaiah, Kailee and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. A funeral will be held, 11 am, Friday, February 2, 2018 at First Baptist South Hill, 3633 Galberry Rd, Chesapeake, VA 23323, viewing on Thursday at Metropolitan Funeral Service, Berkley.

Mr. Gray always had a smile and a kind word for anyone he would meet and was a wonderful person to work with. You could always depend on him at anytime. He had a way of making your day better even if you were having a bad one. Mr. Gray will surly be missed not only by his family, but by everyone who knew him.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your family is in my prayers. I was blessed to work with Mr. Gray at Southwestern Elementary. He was so dedicated to the staff and the students. Mr. Gray always had a smile and an encouraging word to all. He was devoted to providing an excellent education for the students.
