Benjamin Taylor Obituary
Portsmouth - Benjamin Franklin Taylor, 101, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, April 3, 2014. He was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church, an Army Veteran and retired from the supply department of Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of NARFE, ARRL and a life-time member of the Cosmopolitan Camera Club.
His wife of 70 years, Blanche E. Taylor, predeceased Franklin. He is survived by his children, Calvin Taylor and his wife, Linda of Portsmouth, Earl Taylor and his wife, Joan of Harrisonburg, and David Taylor of Portsmouth; a grandson, John Taylor and his wife, Jill of Henrico, Va.; three great-grandchildren, Hope, Ryan, and Ben.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel by Rev. Ellen Comstock with visitation one hour prior to the service. The committal service will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Disabled American Veterans. Franklin was a great Uncle to me and my brothers and sister. He was a true "Tall Tree" in the Taylor family. We'll miss him and his two sisters who passed away before him.
