Christopher Joseph Dembitz

1973 - 2023

Christopher J. Dembitz, 49, left us May 2, 2023 after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer.

Born October 20, 1973 to Theodore and Beverly Dembitz, Chris graduated Bayside High in 1991 and was a 1995 graduate of the University of Virginia with a BA in Political Theory.

Chris's life path included stand-up comedy, a widely known sports Twitter account under the pseudonym Phony Bennett, and a 20+ year career as Vice President of property management for Clark Whitehill Enterprises, Inc. He was a pillar in the multifamily industry, and his accomplishments and awards are innumerable.

Chris's charitable spirit included fundraising for CHKD and UVA Children's Hospital, as well as participation in the CBVIA scholarship fund program.

Most importantly, Chris was a remarkably kind and thoughtful person. A loving father to his two daughters, Ella, 18 and Audrey, 11, he treasured his time with his girls and was so incredibly proud of them.

Chris married his long time best friend and love of his life, Racheal. True soulmates, Chris and Racheal shared a rare love that was obvious to everyone. They cherished every moment together, whether it was his passion for playing disc golf, leisurely nature walks, their joy of cooking and baking together, or quiet movie nights at home. He passed at home in Racheal's loving embrace.

Chris is survived by his wife Racheal Dembitz, his Mother, Beverly Dembitz, sister Tara Dembitz-Reed, his daughters, Ella and Audrey, and two nephews Ethan and Jarrod. He is preceded in death by his father, Theodore Dembitz.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 1:00pm at Christ's Sanctified Holy Church 1477 Kempsville Road Chesapeake, VA 23320. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the UVA Children's Hospital through the UVA Health Foundation in Chris's honor.
